✨ Brat Bhríde at The Dagda Games ✨

We’re delighted to welcome the incredible women behind to The Dagda Games at Claregalway Castle.

This award-winning initiative from Laois has beautifully reimagined the ancient Irish tradition of Brigid’s Cloak — a cloth traditionally left outside on the 31st of January to receive Brigid’s blessing as she passed over the land.

At The Dagda Games, festival-goers will have the chance to create their own Brat Bhríde by embroidering sacred symbols with wool onto pre-loved scarves and fabric.

This is not about fashion or perfection — it’s about community, intention, healing, tradition, and connection. Every stitch carries meaning.

No experience is needed, and all ages, genders, and abilities are welcome. Everything required will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring their own scarf if they wish.

A beautiful hands-on celebration of Irish heritage, sustainability, craft, and community.

Irish Stick Fighting Workshop at the Dagda Games 🇮🇪⚔️

As well as being part of the historic return of Irish Collar & Elbow Wrestling, Nathan Featherstone will also be running a workshop for public participation on the ancient Irish martial art of Irish Stick Fighting at the Dagda Games.

This is a brilliant chance to learn about one of Ireland’s old combat traditions, see how it was used, and get hands-on instruction in a skill that is being kept alive today.

If you’re interested in Irish history, martial arts, heritage, or just want to try something completely different, this is one to check out on the day.
