The very first Castleblayney Show was held all the way back in 1957. That means we have been showcasing the absolute best of our local farming, crafting, and rural community for nearly 70 years!
To celebrate how far we've come, here are a few brilliant facts about the show over the years as we count down the final 8 weeks to Monday, 3rd August:
🚜 From Strength to Strength: The show originally started as a small, traditional agricultural gathering. Today, it has exploded into one of Monaghan's premier one-day summer attractions, welcoming between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors to the field!
🏆 The Elite Bakers: Did you know we host the prestigious All-Ireland Bread Baking Championship? Over the decades, we've seen the finest bakers from across the country bring their A-game (and secret family recipes) right here to Castleblayney! 🍰
🤝 The 3-Year Cup Rule: According to show tradition and rules, if a competitor is skilled enough to win one of our official Show Cups three years in a row, they get to keep a permanent replica from the committee!
🌍 A Global Draw: While we are proudly rooted in Monaghan soil, the show now attracts crowds from all over Ireland, the UK, and even international visitors looking to experience a proper Irish show day.
A huge thank you to generations of local volunteers, committee members, sponsors, and exhibitors who have kept this tradition alive since 1957. We can't wait to see you all in the field in just 8 weeks' time!
