So sorry to hear of the passing of the wonderful Batt Burns. We were privileged to welcome him to Yarn over the years. Deepest condolences to all of his family and many friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

It is with great sadness that we have received the news that our founder and friend Batt Burns passed away peacefully last night. He was a major figure in South Kerry traditional culture and, indeed the entire storytelling community. It goes without saying that all of us involved with the festival are deeply saddened and we can only send our heartfelt condolences to Batt’s family and many friends. Rest in peace Batt we will miss you.

We enjoyed a wonderful to start to the 2026 YARN Story Circle series yesterday evening in the Town Hall.

Our guest storyteller, Senem Donatan Mohan, opened the evening and then invited others to share their own stories – and of course there was tea, coffee, and plenty of biscuits!

Join us for the next story circle on Wednesday 4th March at 7pm – everyone is welcome to come along and listen or share.
