This year’s King of the Hill event was held on Saturday, 25th July, with participants taking part in the 10km Run, 5km Run, and 5km Fun walk. Despite damp conditions throughout the evening, the weather did little to dampen the spirits of those who traveling from far and wide to Keash.
A large crowd turned out for each event, creating a fantastic atmosphere and providing great encouragement for all participants as they tackled the challenging routes.
The races were officially started by Daniel Brehony, and we extend our sincere thanks to Daniel and his family.
A highlight of the day was an outstanding performance by Killian Mooney, who set a new 10km course record with an impressive time of 32 minutes followed closely by Gavin Callery in 33:39, with Alan Dunne third in 34:15
Valeriia Petrova was the first woman in 42:50 closely followed by Emily Cunniffe in 43:21 and Aishling Cawley in third with 51:53.
In the 5km men’s event first home Niall Ahern in 19.27, followed by Sean McGetrick in 19.33 and Zain Clancy took third place in 20.48.
Laurie Douglas was first lady home in the 5km event in a time of 22.33, Yasmin Conolly took second place in a time of 23.05 and Anna Coleman was third in 23.06.

The event also served as a fundraiser for Culfadda/Keash/Gurteen Community First Responders, who provide an invaluable service that benefits our local community.
The success of our event depends on the generosity and support of so many people. Our heartfelt appreciation and thanks goes to the many volunteers who made the evening run so smoothly, including the stewards, marshals, registration team, photographers, and the catering crew. A special thank you to everyone who donated baked goods and treats, which were greatly appreciated by participants and supporters alike.
Special thanks are extended to Eastern Harps GAA Club for the use of their clubhouse and facilities, and to Core Timing for providing professional race timing and results.
