NETTLE FERTILISER
For many veg growers and small farmers nettles were an amazing way to fertilise their crops but that was a long time ago. Nettles are a bio accumulator meaning they draw up nutrients and minerals from deep in the soil using their tap root and store those valuable nutrients and minerals in their leaves.
The usual way to make a nettle fertiliser is to chop up the plants and steep them in water for a week or more.
I've taken away the hard work for you
I air dry the nettles (pic 1)
I use a dehydrator (pic 2)
I blend the leaves into a coarse powder (pic 3)
I blend the powder into a very fine powder (pic 4)
50g left in one litre of water for 7 days will dilute to 10 litres of liquid fertiliser.
And yes I get stung a lot but I luckily grow plantain so that rubbed on the sting is far better than dock leaf.
