If you’re near a field, in a field, looking at a field, or even just interested in fields – this is your last chance to see The Field!

The Ballaghaderreen Players are wrapping up their summer run with one final performance of John B. Keane’s legendary play, directed by Julie Sharkey, this Thursday evening at the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo.

At its heart lies the story of The Bull McCabe, a man who has poured years of sweat into transforming barren rock into fertile land, only to see his claim threatened by a returning Irishman with big plans for gravel and concrete. It’s a battle of wills, tradition against change, and the unbreakable bond between the people and the land.

Audiences have blessed themselves, laughed out loud, gasped in shock!

"The organisers of Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival 2025 have been overwhelmed by the positive response from people of the town and beyond to this year's events, with sell-out crowds and hugely enthusiastic audiences. 'The best yet' was a frequent comment on the 8-day celebration of local and invited talent. The Festival is particularly grateful to a small army of volunteers and stewards, which ensured everything ran smoothly and safely. Gratitude is also extended to our generous local sponsors, whose support is so essential to the Festival's existence, but in particular to Fr Martin Henry of St Nathy's College, Bishop Kevin Doran and Fr Paul Kivlehan of St Nathy's Cathedral, for permission to stage events in the excellent College hall and the town's magnificent Cathedral. Thanks too, to everyone who attended events. Hoping to see you all again at Festival'26."
