On Thursday evening, we took part in the Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule Defibrillator Heartsaver course.

The Heartsaver Course is a certified program which teaches essential, life-saving skills, including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, and choking relief for adults, children, and infants.

Key Aspects of the Heartsaver Course:
• Target Audience: Perfect for workplace responders, teachers, security personnel, or members of the public wanting to be prepared for emergencies.
• Skills Covered:
• CPR: High-quality chest compressions and breaths for all ages.
• AED: Safe operation of an Automated External Defibrillator.
• Choking: Techniques to relieve obstructed airways.
• Format: Typically uses a "practice-while-watching" video format, allowing instructors to provide immediate feedback on techniques.
• Duration & Certification: Usually takes 3–4 hours, and successful participants receive a 2-year certification card.

After the course, we had our official presentation and were delighted to hand over €7,226.19 raised from our 2025 run, which will be put towards purchase of defibrillators, pads and running the courses.
