Aurel Bryan FR8DFe - Mk2 - an eight inch diameter, single driver fullrange audio transducer

Here is last part from our serial stories of Aurel Bryan drivers' upgrades... introducing our 8 inches diameter single driver fullrange, upgraded version, type "FR8DFe - Mk2"
This driver has been on the market since 2016, firstly introduced to the market in IHEAC audio show, at Menara Peninsula hotel, Jakarta - Indonesia... Up to now a 190 pairs in total has been sold all around the world... We are glad that many customers are enjoying its performance... and we are so thankful for all of your supports...
During these past 4 years, many small refinements are performed as our continuous improvement policy... To mention are polepiece copper plating - gained for a better clarity on its high frequency response... Reevaluating its magnetic gap and standardized voice coil manufacturing procedure - for a higher spl ability - higher cone travel ability... And implementing a higher grade neodymium coin magnet on its polepiece for a higher motor magnetic strength...
In June 2020, after we had finished with smaller diameter drivers upgrade, we decided to implement the inventions that we learn to our 8 incher... A 'dustcup' for a better upper high frequency response and a 'whizzer cone break up control' for better midrange and midhigh response...
Whizzer cone break up control fits nicely from the first start... We gain a much better controled presence region - a shout-free, relaxed midrange...
But the dustcup brought a plus - minus result... It provided a better upper high frequency response, but followed with a recessed mid-high response... a liveless sounding driver... In short, dustcup geometry and size is explored ... Reducing its diameter to a certain size, brings back its liveness, and we experiment it in every 1mm scale step... ended up with a ring shape model, and we call it a "high frequency ring radiator"
To our ears, this driver has climbed up to a higher level one... No single trace of shouty - peaky midrange... No sign of a rolloff upper high... It has been freed up from negative atributes of a single driver fullrange that hated by many users... Sound so balanced and smooth under a long critical listening., and we mean it every words...
A perfectly time aligned - mechanically 3 way (ring radiator - whizzer - main cone) - single driver fullrange, generating a wide and smooth sounding frequency bandwidth...
And the good news is that this upgrades are able to be implemented to the first generation one, and we do encourage all of you, our valued customers - who has owned the first gen one, to take your chance to upgrade yours with a small fraction of price... For overseas customer, if you have a 'do it yourself' ability, we can send the ring radiator and whizzer control to be installed by yourself - shipment cost wise - rather than return and sending it back the whole drivers...
