In 2024, TRA takes place in Dublin, Ireland from the 15th - 18th of April. It is hosted by the Irish Department of Transport and organised by TTI (Transport Infrastructures Ireland), University College Dublin (UCD), Enterprise Ireland and CPI (Conference Partners International). The theme of is Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility. TRA2024 will aim to address the main challenges in the transport and mobility of people and goods, with respect to energy, environment, safety, security and socio-economic issues. The Transport Research Arena (TRA) is Europe's biggest Research Conference. It was initiated in 2006 and takes place every two years in a different European city. The Conference is co-organised by the European Commission with the support of the following platforms and networks (in alphabetic order): ACARE (Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe), ALICE (Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration), CEDR (Conference of European Directors of Roads), ECTP (The European Construction Technology Platform), ERRAC (European Rail Research Advisory Council), ERTRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council), ETRA (European Transport Research Alliance) and WATERBORNE (European research and innovation platform for waterborne industries).

📽️ ✨📕 Celebrating the 2026 TRA VISIONS Awards Winners: watch the highlights video and explore the book

The 2026 TRA VISIONS Awards edition has honoured outstanding individuals advancing transport research and strengthening ties between academia, industry, and policy.

Four awards types were presented in this edition: Young Researchers, Senior Researchers, a Special Honorary Award for lifetime impact, and this year's new Host Award, celebrating regional innovation in the spirit of Re-Generation in Transport.

The highlights video captures the best moments from the TRA VISIONS Awards Ceremonies, while the book showcases the winners, the shortlisted finalists and the sponsors who supported the Young Researchers and Host Awards.

It’s a wrap! 🎬 We’ve reached the final episode of our video series, and to close things out, we asked a simple but fun question: What is your favorite mode of transport? 🚋🚲✈️

🚍 Through the provision of dedicated services and expertly organised site visits, participants were given rare access to some of Budapest’s most unique depots and operational facilities. 🏢🔧 The opportunity to experience iconic modes of transport such as the Chairlift 🚠, the Funicular 🚞, and the Cogwheel Railway 🚂 made the programme truly memorable. 🌟
