Since it was founded in 2019, the New Millennium International Chamber Music Festival and Academy (NMICMF) has been a growing international community organized and directed by American-Hungarian violinist Miranda Liu, Hungary’s youngest concertmaster. Based in the heart of Europe, the festival is proud to have an all-star roster that is both international and diverse. Its invited artists are based in Hungary, Spain, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Portugal, Romania, England, Bulgaria, Austria, England, and the Czech Republic, among others. The festival has taken place annually in the heart of Budapest at the end of August / beginning of September and has received attention from the Hungarian and international press for its innovation, in printed form, radio and television. Over 80 students from over 25 different countries have participated actively in the academy, both online and in person, the majority of which are talented musicians of the young generation looking for ways to grow artistically. One of the festival and academy’s goals is to unite different countries as well as different branches of art, opening the doors to future artistic collaborations between artists. The NMICMF is working together with international partners; in 2023 alone, “Edition Vilagarcía” and “Edition Ruse” Bulgaria were organized in Spain and Bulgaria, respectively. The festival and academy's partner and the only legal entity entitled to represent the Festival and Academy since 12 July 2023 is the V4 Music Foundation, a non-profit foundation registered in Hungary. 🎹✨ Day 2 — Polish Piano Pictures

Our first Sunday afternoon at MiraTone took us to FUGA for a captivating journey through Polish piano music with Krzysztof Książek.

Chopin’s music can make a single piano sound like an intimate voice, a distant memory, or an entire orchestra — and this program explored all of these colors.

We began with the reflective F-sharp minor Nocturne, followed by three Mazurkas, where Polish dance tradition meets Chopin’s deeply personal musical language. Then came the Ballade No. 4 in F minor, one of Chopin’s most ambitious and extraordinary works.
Afterwards, the music suddenly jumped forward in time: Rafał Augustyn’s Paganini Variations brought virtuosity into the contemporary world, creating a fascinating dialogue between the Romantic tradition and a modern musical voice.

🎹✨ 2. nap — Lengyel zongoraképek

Vasárnap délután a FUGA-ba látogattunk, ahol Krzysztof Książek különleges zenei utazásra vitt bennünket a lengyel zongoramuzsika világába.

Chopin zenéjében egyetlen zongora is képes halk, bensőséges hanggá, távoli emlékké vagy akár egy egész zenekarrá válni — és ezen a koncerten mindezekből ízelítőt kaptunk.

Day 3 🎞️🎶 Another throwback to the master classes.

Some of the most meaningful moments of the festival happened in these rooms — away from the stage, where musicians listened, worked, experimented and shared ideas.

🎻 Miranda Liu with the violinists, 🎻 Tomáš Jamník with the cellists, and 🎶 Sérgio Pires with the clarinetists — each bringing their own musical perspective and experience to the participants.

It’s wonderful to look back and see the concentration, curiosity and energy in these moments. This is what a festival is about: learning, connecting, and growing through music. ❤️

🎻✨ Day 2 — Music everywhere.

Every room occupied, rehearsals underway, instruments sounding, and a constant buzz of musicians, ideas and conversations. This is the rhythm of MiraTone. 🎶

While artists prepared for their concerts, others were immersed in teaching and mentoring. On Day 2, Andrii Murza worked with violinists, Csaba Pálfi with clarinetists, and Angela Draghicescu with pianists — while Miranda Liu coached a trio formed by participants who had only met the day before.

New encounters turning into music. New ideas taking shape. A place where you can truly focus on what matters: the music. ❤️

🎻✨ Day 1 — Opening Concert!

And so it began! 💛

On 22 August, the V4 String Quartet opened MiraTone with an evening of Beethoven — and a journey back almost 180 years.

In 1847, sixteen-year-old József Joachim gave a Beethoven concert in London at the invitation of the famous Beethoven Quartet Society. A remarkable beginning for a young Hungarian violinist who would soon become one of the most distinguished musicians of his generation.

Inspired by that historic concert, the V4 String Quartet brought its programme back to life at MiraTone — filling the opening evening with Beethoven’s extraordinary sound, energy and emotional depth. 🎶

🎞️✨ Throwback to the first hours of MiraTone 2026.

The first notes, doors opening, instruments warming up, pianists at the keyboards, and musicians meeting for the first time — with that unmistakable feeling that something was about to begin. 🎶

Our master classes were already in full swing, filled with focused listening, questions, ideas, and music taking shape moment by moment.

These first hours featured our wonderful professors Miranda Liu and Daniel Rumler on violin, Bartosz Koziak on cello, Csaba Pálfi on clarinet, László Borbély, Krzysztof Książek and Angela Draghicescu on piano, together with collaborative pianists Orsolya Soós and Bertalan Robotka. 🎻🎹

And this was only the beginning. ❤️

🎻 Ma este – a MiraTone Fesztivál zárókoncertje

Egy különleges zenei élménnyel zárul az idei MiraTone Fesztivál: Mozart művei mellett Olivier Messiaen megrendítő, egyedülálló műve, a Quartet for the End of Time is elhangzik.

A koncert egyik közreműködője Bartosz Koziak, a V4 Vonósnégyes tagja, arról mesél, hogy miért különleges számára ez a program, és milyen különleges élményt jelent számára Mozart és Messiaen zenéjének találkozása ezen az estén.

Messiaen darabja a II. világháború idején született, és a reményről szól. Bartosz szavaival: amikor ezt a művet hallgatjuk vagy játsszuk, olyan, mintha „egy másik világból érintenénk meg valamit”.
