Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre

Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre Designed by architect Daniel Libeskind open in 2011. It combines teaching, research and public outreach facilities in a remarkable setting.

Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre is a new architectural landmark for Hong Kong. It is the permanent home of School of Creative Media, Department of Computer Science, Department of Media and Communication and the Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media. As well as state-of-the-art technical infrastructure for students, the building offers numerous exhi

bition spaces, theatres, cinemas, production studios and research laboratories. From 28 October, 2011 onwards, a Grand Opening Festival will be curated and organized by School of Creative Media. “Diary VII 。 The Story Of ……” Campus Tour was woven with poetic choreography, stray cat stories and family histories by renowned Hong Kong choreographer and dancer, Mui Cheuk Yin, supplemented with stunning lighting effects created by lighting designer, Lee Chi Wai. This performance won the outstanding choreography and the best small venue production awards at the 23rd Hong Kong Dance Awards in 2022, and best dance performance by the DarkChat Awards of the Edinburgh Festival in 2023.

Both artists will attend the post-performance discussion to share their creative process with the audience in Cantonese, facilitated by Prof. Man Ching Ying Phoebe.

To celebrate its remarkable 25-year journey, School of Creative Media is holding “SCM 25 Hong Kong Film Series Opening Night”, in collaboration with the Development Office, on 22 September 2023.

SCM proudly introduces a series of scholarships generously established by prominent figures in the creative media and film industries. The scholarships will subsidise our students to participate in international film festivals and competitions, as well as provide opportunities for exchanging abroad. Some will award top-performing students with expertise in areas such as scriptwriting, visual effects, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, virtual-human and interactive experiences. "and... a log" is an event organised by students of black and white photography classes, mainly from the SCM undergraduate programme. The primary objective of the event is to delve into the distinctive memories and experiences of different individuals. It also serves as a platform for enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated students and teachers interested in black and white photography to showcase their artistic creations to a wider audience.

M+ Cinema brings Super 8 filmmaker and poet Helga Fanderl for a Masterclass to Hong Kong. Please join us at SCM for her book presentation Constellations Super 8.

Helga Fanderl (b. 1947, Germany) is a filmmaker who lives and works in Berlin and Paris. After studying film in Frankfurt and New York, Fanderl gained recognition for her exceptional use of Super 8 film, resulting in numerous international film screenings and exhibitions. Drawing from a body of work that comprises more than 1,000 Super 8 films, she is known for performative film presentations that are always unique and distinct to her artistic vision. Her films are in the collections of the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, and in the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
