"Avoiding Hurricanes at a Walking Speed" - This is what Jason helped Erden Eruc do as he became the first person to row across the Pacific Ocean, north of the Equator, as he was coming from California to Hong Kong as one of our Ocean Ambassadors! Amazing stuff, and he has 18 World Records to his name to prove his abilities. Stay tuned for more, and if you are in education of any age over 12, or just interested in the ocean, check out our 32 weeks in English, Spanish or Chinese, of our educational material on Erden's adventure! http://bit.ly/WestBoundRower

The Two Jadens, each 17 and training at the Hong Kong Sports Institute, rowed around Hong Kong Island in the ATIR 2021 race for the first time. They rowed to raise money for our work at Ocean Recovery Alliance, and came 2nd over the line with an amazing time of 3:52:02, and hardly looked tired after the 42km race!

They both have an IOU for the Ocean as athletes - In, On and Under the Water….and thanks to them, they’ve raised over HK$ 20,000 (US$ 2,600).

You can still donate to their race for the ocean:

Did you know that Beaked Whales are quiet as they dive to below 400m or so before they use sonar to look for squid? That’s because they don’t want killer whales to hear them, and find them, when they’re near the surface.

Thanks to Dr. Jay Barlow from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Scripps Institution of Oceanography for his guest appearance with Erden yesterday and over 30 schools from the US and Canada on a live call with Erden from the middle of the Pacific. Thanks to Exploring By The Seat Of Your Pants for hosting another great educational event for Westbound Rower.
