🎹✨ Solo Piano Recital with Filippo Gorini

Rising star pianist Filippo Gorini (Italy) brings his innovative project Sonata for Seven Cities, involving month-long residencies in various major metropoles, from Vienna and Cape Town to Hong Kong. In this unique recital, Gorini will perform a new work by his close collaborator, renowned composer Beat Furrer, as well as a world premiere from Hong Kong composer Jing Wang.

🎻✨ Pavel Haas Quartet Chamber Music Masterclass

Before their evening recital at Cosmopolis Festival 2025, the internationally celebrated Pavel Haas Quartet (Czechia) will coach preselected chamber music students in a public masterclass at HKUST.

🎭✨ Recap: Malaysian Teochew Iron Rod Puppetry at Cosmopolis Festival 2025
On September 28, audiences at HKUST experienced a rare and vibrant showcase of Teochew iron rod puppetry by the 潮藝館（Teochew Puppet & Opera House） from Penang, Malaysia.

The program featured two captivating stories:
• Princess Baihua Bestows Her Sword – a tale of love, betrayal, and vengeance set in the Yuan Dynasty
• Si Tanggang – a modern retelling of a Southeast Asian folktale about ambition and maternal devotion

🎶 The performance was enriched by live Teochew music, and presented in Teochew and Malay dialects, with English and Chinese surtitles.
🌏 The event highlighted the integration of Chinese Teochew, Malaysian, and Indian cultural elements, offering a unique lens into Southeast Asian heritage.
👋 Audiences engaged directly with the troupe through a post-show discussion, and explored puppet displays and stage settings—touching, playing with, and photographing the intricate puppets and props.
📚 This was more than a performance—it was a hands-on educational experience, celebrating traditional arts, storytelling, and intercultural exchange.

🎶✨ Ashwini Bhide: A Hindustani Vocal Concert
Vocal artist Ashwini Bhide Deshpande is one of the foremost exponents of North Indian Classical music. Her voice, both melodic and powerful, draws listeners to an experience that enchants and subsumes. Together with Siddhesh Bicholkar (harmonium), Yati Bhagwat (tabla), and Rutuja Lad (vocal support), the artists will take us on a journey through the khayal form of music, unique in its improvisatory style and presentation of the raga.

🎷✨ Meet Elifantree – Finland’s Uncompromising Modern Jazz Trio
Described as “enigmatic, unnerving and wonderfully unpredictable”, Elifantree creates music using the framework of jazz but often ventures far beyond it. Their sound blends dazzling vocals, outstanding saxophone, pulsating rhythms, and electroacoustic elements, forming a sonic experience that’s been compared to David Lynch, Charlie Chaplin, and Pablo Picasso.
Since 2007, Elifantree has performed globally and released six critically acclaimed albums, including Love & Trees, Time Out, Movers and Shakers, Anemone, Blood Moon, and Hachi.
