Larry Bird, president of the Indiana Pacers at the time, left a lasting impression on Peja Stojakovic, who shared this story:
"We had just lost a game in Washington, scoring a pitiful 79 points. It was an awful performance—nothing was falling, and we probably shot around 15% from three.
The next day, during practice, as we were stretching, Larry Bird—who was 50 years old then—walked in. He grabbed a ball and started shooting threes.
He hit 20 out of 20. Mind you, he was wearing a sweater, dress pants, and loafers. After finishing, he calmly put the ball down, stretched his back, and walked out without saying a single word."
