The music that gets us together was the main motive to set start, the "International Youth Band Festival". Beyond Music's language, its undisputed artistic value and the significance of the participating schemes, the International Youth Band Festival consists a major social event embracing not only our municipality but also the whole of Thessaloniki's Prefecture. It fills young people's hearts wit
h energy and offers unique moments to all those coming as spectators to its concerts. Every year new schemes, even more in number and better, coming from all parts where the musical heart of Greece and foreign countries beats, make our International Festival an irreplaceable part of our town's cultural and social life. The scope of these manifestations (common rehearsals - common performances, in Echedoros and other neighbouring towns as well as municipalities of the Greater Thessaloniki area) is the acquaintance with each other's methods and ways of working; the encouragement of artistic and friendly relationships between the participating schemes, Greek or foreign, the establishment of a network as well as the communication through musical cooperation. It is also offers the possibilities to materialising exchange programmes and join them with similar activities abroad.
