In its 17 yrs of annual operation by Entefxis non-profit organization, Photometria International Photography Festival is held in the city of Ioannina

Photometria Festival is organized by "Entefxis." Non-profit organization. Organized for the 14th year in the city of Ioannina is the first interactive Photography Festival in which everyone who loves the art of photography can participate and vote. Our vision is for Photometria Festival to become a showcase of contemporary photography, to support local and foreign photographers, of education and cultivation of partnerships with cultural organizations and festivals in Greece and abroad. Hopefully, Photometria Festival is a cross-cultural meeting point, bringing ideas, traditions, worldviews, and expressive media from all over the world. With dedication to the project and wishing for its establishment of the organizers call for participation, not only renowned photographers but also amateurs to take part in the field of expression. Our expectation is for Photometria Festival to be a cultural umbrella under which photographic expression and creativity grows. 14 exhibitions will open in museums, galleries, squares and open-air spaces across the city. Artists will give talks about their work, we will screen 4 documentaries, and photobooks will fill an entire floor of our centre.
Admission is free everywhere.

14 εκθέσεις θα ανοίξουν σε μουσεία, πινακοθήκες, πλατείες και υπαίθριους χώρους σε όλη την πόλη. Οι καλλιτέχνες θα μιλήσουν για τη δουλειά τους, θα προβάλουμε 4 ντοκιμαντέρ, και τα φωτογραφικά βιβλία θα γεμίσουν έναν ολόκληρο όροφο του κέντρου μας.

Our 18th birthday became this year's open call. Photographers from all over the world sent us their own answers about growing up: the ruptures, the choices, the moment you start to become yourself.

The final selection was made by Alec Soth, from Magnum Photos.

Τα 18α γενέθλιά μας έγιναν η αφορμή για το φετινό μας open call. Φωτογράφοι από όλο τον κόσμο μάς έστειλαν τις δικές τους απαντήσεις για την ενηλικίωση. Τις ρήξεις, τις επιλογές, τη στιγμή που αρχίζεις να γίνεσαι ο εαυτός σου.

Την τελική επιλογή έκανε ο Alec Soth, Magnum Photos.

Byker was a working class neighbourhood in Newcastle. Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen went to live there and photographed it for eleven years, until the demolition 🔴

Years later she returned to the same streets.

The two bodies of work stand face to face in our municipal gallery. One place, two times, one long memory.

Το Byker ήταν μια εργατική γειτονιά στο Νιούκαστλ. Η Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen εγκατάστηθηκε εκεί και τη φωτογράφιζε για έντεκα χρόνια, μέχρι την κατεδάφισή της 🔴

Χρόνια αργότερα επέστρεψε στους ίδιους δρόμους.

Αυτές οι δύο σειρές φωτογραφιών στέκονται αντικριστά στη Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη. Ένας τόπος, δύο εποχές, μια βαθιά μνήμη.
