Athens Zero Waste Festival ATH-ZW fest

Athens Zero Waste Festival (ATH-ZW fest) is a free event organized by Plastikourgeio Shop & Lab, aimed at the general public with the goal of sensitizing them to the reduction of waste at the source. The ATH-ZW fest wants to inspire and equip citizens to integrate zero waste into their daily lives. It takes place, on June 8th and 9th, 2019.

Status Of The Project

We are currently working on the 2019 edition.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT MAINLY REPLY TO THE NEEDS OF OUR CITY ENVIRONMENT

· The reduction at source of raw materials and / or recyclables.

· The attainment of zero-waste.

· The reduction of food waste.

· Repair , repackaging or reusing used products.

· Improving behaviors (citizens, businesses, institutions, etc.)

WHAT ACTIONS ARE ACHIEVED OR PLANNED TO RESPOND TO?

· A campaign or awareness-raising activities.

WHAT ARE THE CONCRETE REPERCUSSIONS OF THE PROJECT

Last year Festival had aprox 1000 visitors, a fair of 9 vendor stands, 1 exhibitor, 9 info stands, 4 conferences, 4 workshops for adult and 2 for children.

We are proud to have had 1 kg of recycling, 1.2 kg of compost and 200 grams of waste !! :-)

HOW DOES THE PROJECT JOIN IN THE LONG TERM?

· It responds to a long-term problematic within the current environmental and societal situation.

· It has the capacity to modify behaviors in depth.

· It is able to establish sustainable new techniques and / or new processes in the management of residual materials during public events.

· It is possible to reproduce the same project in another environment, possibly by other actors.
