The reason for this sitting position is, when someone with bad spirit is in the mist, since greeting starts from left to right you have to pass through the Pomatia (Akyeame poma) which breaks bad spirits before you reach Ohene, if that fails, the spirits backing the Ohene dwa intercede before you reach Ohemaa.

This is to protect Ohemaa since Denkyira was founded by a woman and therefore very valuabe but the opposite is observed in other Akan states
