Why does it seem like being in the word is better than being in Christ?

In todays Christianity peoples love for God and the things of God seems to be dying down by the day. People turn to enjoyed and seek the treasures of this word than the kingdom of God Mathew 6:33.
One must understand that Christianity is a journey or a transition from one state of mind and ways of doing things to another and this new life disagree with your former way of life(2 Corinthians 5:17).
[17]Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
In the case of the children of Israel who were lead by God from the land of Egypt to the promised land had the attitude like some todays Christians who are not rooted in their faith and on the word of God.
(Exodus 16:Exodus 16:2-3
[2]In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
[3]The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”
