GHANA TO HOST AFRICAN JUNIOR TENNIS TEAMS COMPETITION.
( ITF/CAT Western(2) Edition in Accra).
Ghana has been selected for the hosting of the upcoming African Junior Teams Competition for the Under 12 tennis teams in the West African region.
The competition is organised by the International Tennis Federation( ITF) in collaboration with Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) for 8 countries in the Western Zone 2, that include Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone and host nation Ghana.
This Western(2) African Junior Teams Competition is the first edition to be held and will be used as a qualifying event for countries for the main African Junior Team Competition for the Under 12(AJTC-12&U) for 2023.
FORMAT OF PLAY:
The 8 teams will be placed in 2 pools for a round robin format over 3 days after which the teams ranked 1st and 2nd in each pool will qualify to compete at the play off pool of 4 teams.
Each qualified team will compete with 2 teams at the play off pool other than the one it played. The same format will be played for teams ranked 3rd and 4th to play for the positions of 5th to 8th in a 2 singles, 1 double format.
