OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19TH 2024

THEME: BE VULNERABLE WITH GOD

MEMORISE: The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18

READ: Exodus 3:1-5
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

MESSAGE
Whenever I am in God’s presence, I behave like a child because I recognize that I am just a baby in need of His love, comfort, mercy, and help. In Luke 18:9-14, Jesus told the story of two men who went into the temple to pray. One boasted about his achievements before God but was not justified. However, the other man who went humbly before God and acknowledged his helplessness was justified. In today’s world, many people approach God as ‘great people of faith. However, this is why they pray for so long without getting responses from God.

When God described the dimensions of the mercy seat in the ark of the covenant to Moses in Exodus 25:17, He specified that its length was to be 2.5 cubits and its breadth was to be 1.5 cubits.

Interestingly, God didn’t specify a height. This means that the mercy seat isn’t something to sit on but something to lie upon. Those who will receive God’s mercy must come in their lowest state. When you’re in God’s presence, you must be vulnerable and discuss your weaknesses, pr

Job 42:12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

Rejoice not over me my enemies; for when I fall I shall rise again and when I sit in darkness; the Lord shall be my light.
They looked unto Him and were lighted and their faces were never ashamed.

Child of God, it does not matter what confronts us nor how our year have been so far. The Lord is well able to turn it around for the better.
It does not matter the losses and setbacks we suffered, the Lord is still able to pick the broken pieces to make them into a showpiece. For when the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. The Lord, is the God of sudden turnaround. He does not need years to work it out, a moment is all that He needs.

And the Word says, though our beginning may be small, our latter end shall greatly increased. For the end of a thing is greater than the beginning. Surely, we shall finish this year greater and better than we are presently.
Our present position or condition shall not be our end, tbe best is yet come from us.

I hear the word, our comeback shall be greater than our setback. Joseph suffered a setback: from being chief servant to a prisoner. It looked like the worst had happened to him. But his comeback from that setback was to become a ruler in the land.

No matter what we might have lost or happened to us, what the Lord is about to do in our lives before the end of this year shall be nothing in value, substance and nature. The outcome shall make us forget the pain and the past experience. It shall put our mockers to sleep and our companions shall be in for an irrecoverable shock.

Can you scream it aloud: *MY COMEBACK SHALL BE BETTER AND GLORIOUS THAN MY SETBACK*. *I SHALL FINISH THE YEAR WELL*
It's a dawn of a new day for us.
We shall sing a new song.
In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father, thank Yo

FAITH THAT BELIEVES IN GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE
Faith is not the absence of challenges. Faith is choosing to trust God in the midst of situations that look final, irreversible, or impossible. Many times, God allows us to face moments that stretch our faith so that His power can be revealed in ways we never imagined. When we turn to Him, He is able to rewrite the story, reverse the irreversible, and bring testimonies out of tears. For no sickness, no situation that can defy His presence.

KEY TEXT: 2 Kings 20:1–11. “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you…” (v. 5)

King Hezekiah was one of Judah's righteous kings who trusted the Lord. At the height of his leadership, he fell critically ill, so sick that the prophet Isaiah delivered a message of death: “Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.” Humanly speaking, this was the end. But Hezekiah did something powerful he turned his face to the wall and prayed, weeping before God. Friends the GOD we serve is a gracious GOD who hears the prayers and cries of his children. Don't give up on what seems like a dead dream. GOD is able to turn around dead career, your dead marriage, and dead finances. We serve a GOD who makes the impossible possible.

God responded to Hezekiah by doing the impossible:

-He reversed the verdict

-He added 15 more years to Hezekiah’s life

-He gave a miraculous sign by reversing the shadow on the sundial, something only God can do.

This story illustrates that even when the situation looks sealed, God still has the final say.

Faith does not deny the crisis; faith looks at the crisis and says, “My God is bigger and more powerful than what is surrounding me.”

Hezekiah teaches us that God is able to turn around what seems final, rewrite any verdict, restore what looks lost, and perform miracles beyond human explanation. When we seek Him in genuine faith, God hears, sees, and responds.

WORD FOR TODAY..The WORK, The WAR and The WALK

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (2 Corinthians 10:4)."

We have the work of Christianity, the war of Christianity, and the walk of Christianity. For the work of Christianity, the Lord has made tools available for us to effectively carry out His work. These tools are determined by the specific job description given for the work.

For instance, in reconciling men to God, we need to know where the people are, the type of people they are and how to reach them. This clear description determines the kind of tools we use for our evangelical work, such as the different strategic outreaches we organize to reach people where they are, etc.

We’re in a spiritual warfare; we actively carry out onslaughts against the forces of darkness that try to resist us as we deliberately win souls into the Kingdom. Our tools or weapons of war are determined by the description and understanding of the adversary.

For example, the Bible clearly identifies for us the tools David used when he faced the giant, Goliath of Gath; they were a stone, a sling, and the words he spoke. Study the account; you’d see the spirituality of David’s action. The weapons or tools of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God in discomfiting the adversary (2 Corinthians 10:4).

However, for our Christian walk, which refers to the everyday activities of our Christian life through which we relate with one another and relate with God, we don’t need “tools.” When you’re born again, living the Christian life is the most natural thing to do with your new nature in Christ. It’s natural for us to walk in the light of who we are in Christ and in our heritage in Him.

Anything that makes you dependent on aids or “tools” is like “crutches” that a lame man needs to be able to move around. God doesn’t want you to live like that. It’s not His desire for you to depend on medications to stay alive.

Pray. Be patient. Respect the process. Life doesn’t rush, and neither should you. Your impatience doesn’t dictate the timing of your breakthrough, it’s orchestrated by a plan far wiser than any schedule you can set.
It might take a while but what is meant for you will find its way. Nothing can be forced, nothing can be stolen, nothing can be delayed forever. Trust the process and the unseen work, embrace the waiting, and hold firm in faith. Your persistence today, and your unwavering belief will align with destiny. When it arrives, it will be visible for all eyes to see, undeniable, perfect, and worth every moment you waited. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep moving, your moment is coming. The Lord said, “Watch and pray…”. You will be fine. Good morning and a blessed Wednesday

Ezekiel 33:10–11 (AMP) Beloved in Christ our text reminds us that God’s heart is never to condemn but to restore. Even when we feel weighed down by our failures, God invites us to turn back to Him and live. He sees our brokenness, yet He calls us to hope, not despair. Repentance is not about shame, it is about returning to the God who longs to give us life. His question, “Why should you die?” reveals His desire that we choose His grace and walk in His ways. Today, may we hear His call and respond with trust and a renewed heart.

🙏 Lord, thank You for Your mercy that invites me to return. Turn my heart away from sin and toward Your life-giving ways. Help me walk in Your grace today. Amen.

Joel 2:31 says, "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes". This imagery of a darkened sun and a blood-red moon is echoed in other biblical texts, including Acts 2:20, Matthew 24:29, and Revelation 6:12, as signs of cataclysmic events preceding the Day of the Lord.
