Before the Ghanaian flag was raised,
there were women toiling the ground that led to freedom.

Women like Hannah Kudjoe, Mabel Dove Danquah, Susanna Al-Hassan, Agnes Oforiwa Tagoe-Quarcoopome, Theodosia Okoh, Esther Ocloo, and Rebecca Naa Dedei Aryeetey stood at the frontlines of advocacy, mobilization and leadership.

This Independence Day, we remember that nation-building has always had feminine hands at work.

Happy Independence Day, Ghana!

It’s almost that time of the year again and we are warming up our engines with Scar Poetry’s () I was Not Raised By Soft Women from AAWPFestival 2025.

“I was raised by women with hard lives, women who enter dingy bars and chang’aa dens in confidence.”

🇬🇭 Happy Republic Day, Ghana!

Today, we celebrate the resilience, rhythm, and rise of a people.

We tell the story of creatives, market queens, innovators and women who prayed and protested to see to Ghana’s becoming.

We are here because you paved the way and we are infinitely thankful.

Happy republic day!
