As is well known, everything in this world has a beginning and an inevitable end, and so the time has come to bid farewell to the Middle Ages and move into the Early Modern period. Continuing our journey, we will travel to 16th-century Japan, into the era known as the Sengoku Jidai — the Age of Warring Provinces.

Japan in this century is a land without a tangible central authority, a patchwork of territories ruled by hundreds of samurai clans, locked in constant struggle for a place beneath the great sun — a world of warring monasteries and castles. But this world will change when strange ships appear on the horizon, bringing with them new technologies, goods, and a religion that is gaining more and more followers.

This is a story about people who lived through great change, shaping the future out of the chaos of personal ambition — about difficult choices, fortune, betrayal, tyranny, cruelty, loyalty, and faith. And about a clash of worlds that will end in centuries of isolation.

A journey through the Arab world — Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, the West Bank.

Andrey Gusenkov has been travelling for 12 years, visited 62 countries, and in 2025–2026 went deep into the Arab world. He rode the famous iron ore train in Mauritania, hitchhiked through the Saudi desert, celebrated New Year with Bedouins in a tent in Jordan, and spent Christmas in Bethlehem. In April he crossed Egypt by land from south to north.
