About GIMF 2018

GIMF is an initiative of the Government of Georgia under the patronage of the Prime Minister H.E Mamuka Bakhtadze. The project is executed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia through its Maritime Transport Agency.

The Forum aims to the promotion of the common values of international shipping and addresses issues relative to this global activity. GIMF is not simply a biennial event but it is an ongoing project. The objective is to bring together high level officials and representatives of the maritime sector from different regions and countries. The whole event will offer possibility for inter action between the regulator and the industry and to open dialogue between shipping personalities and environmentalists. Inter alia, the Forum will be an opportunity to take the message of the critical importance of an integrated maritime policy and ocean governance outside Europe across the Black and Mediterranean Seas and beyond.

GIMF 2018, building on the success of the first edition in 2016, will address issues under the umbrella of Sailing towards the Roaring Twenties. The day of the Forum itself is Thursday September 13 although a number of activities will be held on the margins during the whole week. Thursday, however, will be dedicated solely to the Forum.

Participation at the Forum, including the social events, is by invitation and complimentary.
