Things are definitely heating up! (And not just the weather)...

We've just announced the semi-finalists in our annual hunt for the best classical vocal talent across the UK.

The New Voices Singing Competition takes place during our festival this June.

It's a not-to-be-missed opportunity to hear the stars of tomorrow battle it out in the intimate, beautiful rural setting of St Andrew's Church in Aldborough.

The live semi-finals and grand final take place in front of a prestigious judging panel.

Very sad to hear of the death of Dame Felicity Lott. One of the greatest singers of her generation, she was a generous supporter of the next generation of singers, as one of our judges in the early days of the festival's New Voices Singing Competition, as seen in this picture.

Robert Ogden is the artistic director of the Northern Aldborough Festival. Until recently, he ran his family’s jewellery store in Harrogate, which was founded in 1893. Before that he sang all over the world.

This year's opera production of The Marriage of Figaro has been directed by one of the world's leading opera stars, Danielle de Niese. Described by the New York Times as 'Opera's coolest soprano' Danielle burst onto the global opera scene in 2005 as the all-singing, all-dancing Cleopatra in the celebrated production of Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne.

Just 25 at the time, she appeared a fully-formed artist, and to an extent she was - she had already made her debut at New York's Metropolitan Opera as Barbarina at just 19.

The Aldborough audience will witness the third performance of this new production by trailblazers Wild Arts, and the first north of the Watford Gap! Opera North
