Good morning all,
This is not an announcement I wanted to make. Sadly Yelverton tractor run will be canceled for the foreseeable future.
Due to new laws and rules in place it has put a lot of red tape in the way to hold an event of this scale. These new rules require a lot of additional time from filling in paperwork, funds in place prior to the event to grant permissions (if they were even approved) and a dedicated group of volunteers to manage the event.
If I was to hold the event without these things in place I would be personally liable and I cannot take that risk financially or mentally.
I have had some lovely lovely people who have helped and attended the event offer to assist with this but even the managing of it all will be too much with looking after a family and working full time.
I have been pondering over this decision for the last few months since the princetown run was cancelled and I have looked into every avenue possible but I can't see it being viable.
I would like to thank Everyone, from the volunteers who help with raffle tickets and day to day running, Stephen Horn for creating such an incredible event 20 years ago, Muriel Margaret Blackledge for running the dog show, all the amazing tractor drivers who turned up year on year, Richard Eggins and Clare Eggins for organising the routes and ice-cream stops, all the businesses who donated prizes to our raffles, Anthony Lee for saving the day bringing along the bouncy castles on the first year I took over and coming year on year after that, all the businesses who set up fabulous stalls, Claire Ann Brown for again saving the day serving teas and coffees and turning up with just a week's notice and then coming every year causing me no stress or problems, and all the wonderful people who helped us raise tens of thousands for local charities and causes.
I have met some incredible people over the years and I can't be more thankful for how it has gone. I am so sorry it has turned out this way.
If you are a local group and you think you could take this event on please do get in contact. It will require people who have time to deal with the ins and outs of the paperwork along with all the planning beforehand. I'm happy to pass on all my contacts for the set up but this must be to the right group who will donate to local causes and do not look to profit from it. Any turnover to the group will be vetted by myself and Stephen horn.
