With the Uk having the honour of hosting the world championship in July we thought we would do our bit to support scale flying! On Sunday July 26th come and join us to enjoy the chance to meet fellow scale flyers and there’s no judges😀.

Well we thought it’s time to remind everyone we are still going ahead with our fly in on the same weekend we normally run the show, the second in July. This will be for modellers ( and companions) only and will not have any traders, catering etc. We will publish a form shortly for anyone who wants to come and fly , with contact info etc.
We’re looking forward to sharing our lovely model airfield, complete with 100m tarmac runway, with our fellow modellers !

Hi. We enjoy close links with the Bristol Aero collection and they’ve asked for some help. The former RAF Bicester is hosting an open day on April 26th (which has already sold out) and as well as having a very impressive classic car display is planning to have some aircraft displays ( on the ground). There will be a nod to the 110th anniversary of the Bristol F2b fighter and they are hoping to display a large model of one. There is a full size replica in the Bristol museum but that’s not very mobile! If any one has one they can lend Bicester for the weekend ( ideally 6’ plus wingspan) drop us a line and we’ll link it up to the team. Thanks!

The club got National media cover on this one. Thanks again to Andy Johnson for bringing his Concorde and you may even see it again at the amazing LMA shows this year!

WONDERFUL WOODSPRING WINGS

Across the fields near Yatton
Where up on high larks sing
The skies now filled with model planes
To herald Woodspring Wings
Some with just petrol motors
While others powered by jets
For every aviation fan
This is as good it gets
You might see fragile biplanes
Dancing through the air
Their pilots rooted on the ground
Eyes scouring everywhere
A World War bomber comes to land
Then Concorde takes the stage
Once more we see this icon
Of supersonic age
The crowds beside grass runway
Are treated to a show
That surely is not bettered
Wherever you might go.

Woodspring Wings Model Airshow

Woodspring Wings MAC have been hosting their show for over thirty years, and it has been enjoyed by many thousands of people in that time. Originally started to finance the development of the club, which now owns two fields and a tarmac runway, it has become a wonderful showcase for the hobby to both modellers and the general public.
It has become increasingly involved and expensive to run these shows with all of the resource coming from volunteers within the club and we have decided next year to focus on the club development and let the team have a well-earned rest. Consequently, the next Woodspring show will be in July 2027, when we plan to return with an even better one!
We have been supported by many traders and suppliers over the years and hope to continue with them after the break. In the meantime, we will do all we can to help and promote our partners.
We do intend to host a fly in at our field for modellers in July 2026 which will not involve the public and therefore not nearly the workload. it will be a celebration of our wonderful hobby and the community of modellers we have hosted over the years. More details on this “Woodspring celebration of Model Flying” to follow!
Thank you to everyone who has supported our club’s show in the past, and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the future.
