NHSF Wolverhampton Hindu Society

NHSF Wolverhampton Hindu Society Our aim is to showcase the Hindu religion and the culture that comes along with it.

We are looking to teach and help you embrace the culture that comes along as being part of the Hindu Society. Being one of the oldest religions on earth, it has a lot of Goosebumps-giving information that makes everyone surprised! The society is not just about the Hindu religion and certainly not only for those who practice Hinduism. Over this academic year, we plan on organising a tonne of events

including Holi (the festival of colours), a Diwali programme, a Sewa week (the week of helping others), a Raas/Garba night (the traditional and ritual dance performance), fundraising events, sporting events and also teaching the various rituals that take place throughout the year.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the festival owes its origins to several versions, one of them being a celebration of Shiva and Parvati's marriage to each other. ... According to some, Shivratri is celebrated as the day when Shiva saved the world from the pot of poison that emerged from the ocean during Samudra Manthan

We celebrate Shivatri becuase the festival is celebrated on the new moon day in the month of Maagha according to the Hindu calendar. The day is celebrated to venerate Lord Shiva, an important deity in Hindu culture. ... From that day onwards, the night came to be known as Maha Shivratri and people began worshipping Shiva with a great enthusiasm

From NHSF Wolverhampton on the occasion of Mahashivratri, may the lord Shiva bless you everything that you want from life πŸ’š
