It is much easier for someone to take ownership of their role when they understand what their work is contributing towards.

If your team only sees the individual tasks in front of them, it can be difficult for them to understand why certain things matter. Give them visibility of the bigger picture and suddenly those tasks have context.

When people understand where the business is heading and the part they play in getting it there, you create far more than a team completing a to do list. You create people who are invested in the result.

Sometimes it is simply noticing when someone has handled something well, improved the way they work or stepped up when it mattered. When people know their effort is being seen, it can have a huge impact on confidence and motivation.

A few genuine words at the right moment can often do far more than we realise.
