Get crafty at the Magical Makers Cavern!
Calling all creative witches, wizards and magical makers — head to The Maltings during Wirksworth Wizarding Day and choose from a range of magical activities.
Create and keep a LEGO® mini model, make a charm bracelet or enchanted wand, print your own spirit animal onto a T-shirt or tote bag, or try your hand at candle-making.
Sunday 4th October | 10am–4pm
The Maltings, St Mary’s Gate

Get creative with glass at Create Space Studio & Gallery!
Join local artist Stevie Davies and create your own colourful fused glass tile or hanging, inspired by Harry Potter and all things wizard-themed.
Using pre-cut glass elements, you’ll design your own piece during the session, which Stevie will then fire, finish and clean up for you to collect a few weeks later or have posted to you at cost.

Four sessions available:
10–11am | 11:30am–12:30pm | 1:30–2:30pm | 3–4pm

Step into the ancient Moot Hall and get up close with Liam the Magician as he performs a fantastic mix of close-up magic, amazing tricks and comedy.

Shows last approximately 25 minutes, with performances throughout the day:

Head to Hestia Books in the Market Place and explore a fantastic LEGO® display featuring:
Privet Drive, Hagrid’s Rescue, the Hogwarts Express, Hogwarts Castle, the Sorting Hat Ceremony and all four houses — plus 7 mini book builds.
The whole exhibit measures an impressive 3 x 3ft!

From mandrake roots to flowers of starlight, poisonous leaves and plants of wonder, join resident storyteller Gordon MacLellan from Creeping Toad for a magical walk through the Gardens of Magic and Woods of Sorcery.
Add your own magical idea to our Tree of Spells — or take a leaf of dreams home with you.

Character Costume Competition

Which Harry Potter character will you bring to life?

Join us at 3pm inside St Mary's Church, Wirksworth, for our Character Costume Competition as part of Wirksworth Wizarding Day.

Whether you're Harry, Hermione, Ron, Luna, Dumbledore, Hagrid, a Death Eater, a Hogwarts professor or one of the many other characters from the wizarding world, we want to see your best character costume!

Prizes include:
The Wizarding Day Cup
Family tickets for a train ride on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway
Other magical prizes
Certificates for our contestants

And once the competition is finished, it's time to head outside for our brand-new Wizarding Day Parade!

The parade takes place around the churchyard from 3.30pm to 4pm, so get ready to show off your character and join the magical procession.

Wizardly Windows...
Calling all Wirksworth businesses and town-centre residents!
It's time to get creative and turn your windows into something truly magical for Wirksworth Wizarding Day.

Our Wizardly Windows competition invites you to decorate your window with a Harry Potter or magical theme. Perhaps you'll create a potions laboratory, a Dark Arts library, a wand maker's workshop, a broomstick emporium or even a magical hat shop?

Once again, witches, wizards and muggles will be descending on Wirksworth for a day packed with magical activities, so let's make the town look the part!
And the Wizardly Windows Shield is up for grabs for our winner. Display it with pride and have your business named on the shield.

So dust off your spellbooks, unleash your imagination and get decorating!
