We’re delighted to welcome Hannah Scott back to Wingfield Barns!

For over 15 years, Hannah has captivated audiences with her beautiful storytelling, poignant songwriting and distinctive voice. Inspired by family, relationships and the complexities of human connection, her songs are deeply personal yet wonderfully universal.

Born in Suffolk into a creative family, Hannah grew up surrounded by music and art. She began playing piano at just four years old before teaching herself guitar and developing a lifelong passion for songwriting.

Her career highlights include her song No Gravity being featured on Grey’s Anatomy, a live session on BBC Radio 2 with Dermot O’Leary, and supporting Madeleine Peyroux to an audience of 2,000.

She has also shared stages with Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon and Fairport Convention, as well as performing at Cambridge, Sidmouth and Manchester Folk festivals.
Whether performing to a festival crowd or an intimate audience, Hannah’s warmth and connection shine through. ✨

Friday 9th October 7.30pm
Classical Music - Gainsborough Quintet
🎟️£17

“Members of the Gainsborough Quintet join forces with Alfie Harries (double bass) and Andrew Leach (piano) to present Schubert’s ever popular Trout Quintet. An ebullient piece of chamber music, brimming with themes and memorable moments, this is worth hearing for the penultimate movement alone, a stunning set of variations on Schubert’s own ‘Trout’ theme.

The second half offers a complete contrast: an arrangement for double bass and strings of a beautiful aria by Vivaldi, Vedro con mio diletto. This is from the opera Giustino, which involves love, shipwreck and a terrifying sea monster, which is of course killed by our hero, Giustino. Finally, two toe-tapping tangos by the great master, Astor Piazzolla, who wrote his own Vivaldi-inspired Seasons. Last year we performed Winter - this year we offer Summer and Autumn.”

✨ CLOSE ENCOUNTERS — Elaine Nason ✨

We’re delighted to invite you to Elaine Nason’s exhibition, Close Encounters, at Wingfield Barns.
📅 1–24 October
🥂 Private View: Thursday 1 October, 6–8pm
🕙 Open Mon–Sat, 10am–3pm
🎟️ FREE ENTRY
Please note: Wingfield Barns will be closed on Saturday 3 October.

Born in Walton-on-the-Naze, Elaine Nason studied at Colchester School of Art from 1955–1959, completing both the Intermediate and National Diploma in Design. During her studies, the school was led by renowned printmaker John O’Connor and welcomed an inspiring programme of visiting tutors, including John Nash, Alastair Grant, Derrick Greaves and Richard Chopping.
Following art school, Elaine enjoyed a 36-year career as an infant teacher, working primarily at Laxfield School in Suffolk, while continuing to develop her artistic practice.

Working across oil, watercolour, lino print and monoprint, Elaine’s work reflects a lifelong fascination with the everyday world. Her subjects often centre on domestic interiors, the female figure and still life — themes that have remained consistent throughout her career and can be traced through sketchbooks spanning many decades.

Strong drawing and thoughtful composition are at the heart of Elaine’s practice, qualities that are equally evident in her printmaking. She has exhibited widely throughout East Anglia and has been a member of the Suffolk Group since 1991.

🥂 You are warmly invited to join us for the Private View and opening drinks on Thursday 1 October, 6–8pm.
We hope to see you there!

You are all welcome to the Opening Drinks tomorrow (5th) 2-4pm at Wingfield Barns IP21 5RA - FREE

THIS ‘N’ THAT brings together the work of Suffolk-based artists Jo Chapman and Hayley Field, exploring their shared interest in colour and composition through drawing, painting and ceramic sculpture.

Hayley Field, who studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art in the 1980s, draws on over 30 years of experience in inclusive participatory arts. Her work connects observation, ideas and lived experience, exploring themes of tension, contrast and control. Alongside drawing and painting, she creates installations from modular elements, using reconfiguration to generate new narratives and relationships.

Jo Chapman is a UK-based site-specific artist working across sculpture, drawing, installation and ceramics. Originally trained in Embroidery at Birmingham School of Art, her process-led practice explores place, memory and materiality through research and collaboration. With more than 25 years of experience delivering public art commissions in the UK and internationally, she maintains a strong interest in materials and their role in shaping our environments.
