⚡️ROB CORCORAN
Dublin-born, London-based Rob Corcoran is a respected figure on the UK folk and Americana scene. His beautifully observed songs are rich in storytelling and Celtic soul, delivered with warmth, honesty and an unmistakable Dublin voice. His songwriting has also caught the attention of Irish folk legend Christy Moore, who has performed Rob’s song “Ringing That Bell” as part of his touring set.

⚡️BITY BOOKER is an alternative folk musician and visual artist based in Thanet and London. She is a lover of nature, animals and folklore, she writes and sings gorgeous, wistful songs channelling a lyrical folk tradition. Bity doesn‘t just perform songs, she casts them. Armed with classical guitar, a voice that sounds like it stepped out of a myth, and lyrics full of animals, dreams, ghosts, and forest whispers, Bity crafts a world that‘s both familiar and entirely her own.

Why community spaces matter 💛

Whether it’s a library, place of worship, café, pub or arts venue, community spaces give people somewhere to belong.

They are places to meet, share ideas, discover something new and feel connected to the world around us. A simple conversation might not appear valuable on a spreadsheet, but to someone feeling lonely or in need of connection, it could be a lifeline.

Independent spaces invest in people. They create local jobs, nurture talent, support small businesses and offer opportunities that might not exist elsewhere. Money spent with independents is more likely to circulate within the community, helping it grow and thrive.

As AI and technology continue to change how we work and interact, real human connection will become even more important. Community spaces offer something an app, ordering kiosk or self-service checkout never can: shared experiences with real people.

That is what we are building at Other Space Arts.

OSA is more than a café, bar or music venue. It is a grassroots community space where people can connect, create, perform, work, eat, talk and discover something new.

We know we cannot always compete on price with the local Wetherspoons. We simply do not have the same buying power, and we choose to source locally wherever we can, which sometimes costs a little more.

But every drink, coffee or meal you buy at OSA helps support local suppliers, local jobs, grassroots creativity and a welcoming space where people can belong.

When you choose independent, you invest in your community. 💛

This is where the magic happens. ✨

Spaces like ours don’t happen without you.

Your ideas. Your creativity. Your willingness to show up, try something new and support someone else doing the same.

People don’t really come to OSA to get drunk. They come to feel something.

To discover an artist they’ve never heard before. To hear an idea that makes them think. To eat delicious homemade food created by our chefs. To spend time with friends, family or a partner. To meet people. To feel part of something.
Sometimes simply to be somewhere they feel comfortable being themselves.

At a time when social isolation is very real, we think spaces where people can come together matter more than ever.

And the magic is that we don’t create most of what happens here.

You do.

People often ask us how we find all the incredible artists, musicians, poets, DJs, promoters and creatives who come through our doors.

The truth is, increasingly, they find us.

They hear about OSA from someone who had a great experience playing here. They meet another artist at a gig. A promoter recommends us. Someone comes to an event, has an idea and asks, “Could we do this here?”

And very often, the answer is yes.

We do all of this without regular funding, and we try to give as much back to the artists and curators creating these nights as we physically can.

Of course, some shows are still quieter than we’d like. That’s part of running a grassroots space.

But something has changed.

OSA is becoming one of those places that people who know, know.

A place where creativity finds creativity. Where one opportunity leads to another. Where people show up for each other.

And that’s exactly what we hoped it could become. ❤️
