Sharing our love of supporting parents

As small business owners ourselves we are passionate about the variety and quality that buying locally from independent businesses can get you.

But we also know that as busy new parents or parents to be there isn’t always the time to shop around and as a default many of us end up buying from the big retailers. We want to change that! Wi******er has a thriving community of independent businesses offering both goods and services to meet every need for pregnancy and beyond, our unique event will bring everything together in one event at the Wi******er Guildhall.

Our vision is to offer a Pregnancy and Baby event that is a one stop shop for everything from car seats and prams to pregnancy yoga and baby classes. It will provide parents with a chance to experience what’s on offer locally and participate in useful talks and demonstrations about ‘hot’ parenting topics. We are also working closely with the health and charity sector to provide information about key services pregnant women and parents can access.

More about Sarah and Catherine

Sarah Hannibal-White (BA (Hons), PGCE, MA Ed)

I am a local mother and small business owner. I run Hannibal-White Photography and manage the local community page Boo & Mummy. As a qualified teacher with an MA in Education, I am aware of the benefits of a wide range of educational, and the confidence and assurance knowledge brings. Since becoming a mother, I have become extremely active in the local parent community in Wi******er and have forged strong links with a range of businesses, nurseries and parents.

Since the launch of the Boo & Mummy page in December 2016, I have reached over 700 people and educated them on the local franchises and services available to them as parents. I have connections with over 40 local small businesses who offer services to parents and babies/children in the Wi******er area.

Catherine Defty (BN, Msc, RCN, SCPHN)

A local mother and small business owner, running Tactile Tots Infant Massage courses in central Wi******er, I have passionate interest in parental support, infant wellbeing and public health. As a qualified Children’s Nurse and Health Visitor a key focus of my career has been to equip parents and parents-to-be with the information and support they need in order to provide their child with the best possible start in life. Since gaining my Post graduate diploma and later my Masters in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing I have been committed to the essential role public health plays in ensuring children grow up to be the healthiest adults they can be, benefiting both individuals and society as a whole.

Additionally, since having my own child I have become heavily involved with the Wi******er and district NCT and was elected as their chair in June 2017.

So that's us a couple of mums, who love working with other small business wanting to create a better experience of Wi******er for all new parents.
