Auditions for our “Crazy Calamities” performers at Boomtown Fair 2016 will be taking place on Sunday 20th March in Cardiff from 11am-8pm.

A bit about the performance:

“Crazy Calamities” is a live music venue in the “Wild West” district of the UK’s most immersive festival, Boomtown Fair. We are looking for performers for scripted and improvisational work interacting directly with festival-goers to ensure they receive a fully immersive experience when stepping into the Wild West.

You will be working as part of the craziest hillbilly family in the Wild West – The Lamitie Family - performing slapstick scenes, line dancing and accosting members of the public to get them involved in the family’s wacky adventures. The work is unpaid but provides a “crew” ticket to the festival for the entire weekend (including crew camping). Performances will be scheduled throughout the festival, but you will get plenty of time to experience the event for yourself.

Character profiles:

Ma – Family matriarch (25+) Loud, boisterous and VERY strict. Some movement will be required. Stunt performance experience desirable but not essential. “Hillbilly” accent required.

Pa – Family patriarch (25+). Quiet and stern. Some movement will be required. Stunt performance experience desirable but not essential. “Hillbilly” accent required.

Grandpa – Mangy drunk (25+). Stunt performance experience desirable. Lots of physical comedy. “Hillbilly” accent required.

Grandma – Seemingly frail old lady (25+), but not afraid to chase off ne’er-do-wells with her walking stick! Good character actor able to do physical comedy. “Hillbilly” accent required.

Lilly-May – Mischievous daughter (18-25). Good character actor. Confident interacting with members of the public. Ability to ad-lib & improvise. Stunt experience desirable. Lots of physical comedy. “Hillbilly” accent required.

Ellie- May – Mischievous daughter (18-25). Good character actor. Confident interacting with members of the public. Ability to ad-lib & improvise. Stunt experience desirable. Lots of physical comedy. “Hillbilly” accent required.

Cleet – Creepy cousin (18+) Good character actor. Confident interacting with members of the public. Ability to ad-lib & improvise. Stunt experience desirable. Lots of physical comedy. “Hillbilly” accent required.

In the heart of the Wild West district of Boomtown Fair, Crazy Calamities is a home to weary travellers, gun-toting cowboys, fancy gals and any outlaw who needs a waterin’ hole to lay low for a time. While it may seem imposing, when you pop in to the Crazy Calamities saloon, you’ll be greeted with a warm ‘Howdy’ from the Town Drunk and his Buxom Wenches! Just ignore the duelling gunmen outside and try not to engage them if you don’t wanna get roped in to a gunfight. You can expect to hear music from some mighty fine bands and DJs playing everything from bluegrass and swing to reggae, gypsy, funk and hip hop! Y’all come and see us soon y‘hear?
