We caught up with our Wimborne Food Festival headliner, Maggie Richardson, with a few questions about food and life...

What’s your go-to meal to cook on a day off?
My quick, go-to comfort food is Risotto.

Who does the cooking at home?
I live alone so I do!

What do you love about Wimborne?
I love Wimborne for the local vibe and friendliness and the great variety of shops.

If you were stranded on a desert island which cake would you bring with you?
Dorset Apple Cake to remind me of home

Which other bakers do you admire and why?
Don’t tell him but Paul Hollywood. His books are fool proof.

Cooking/baking implement you can’t live without?
Couldn’t manage without my accurate weighing scales.

What are you looking forward to most about Wimborne Food Festival?
I love the Wimborne Food Festival because of the relaxed friendly atmosphere and super location. I’m delighted to be invited back.

Wimborne Food Festival is back on Saturday 19th September.

Do you have any pets?
Yes , we have two dogs, a cocker spaniel called Woody and a cockapoo called Hudson. Both mental but love them to bits.

What’s your go-to meal to cook on a day off?
I love to eat something I don’t cook myself, I love an Indian with garlic naan bread oh and a nice cold beer.

Who does the cooking at home?
Juliette does the cooking; I always get a surprise as she never tells me what we are having. It tastes better when you don’t cook it yourself.

What do you love about Dorset?
I love Dorset, there is always something going on. We are all very lucky to have glorious beaches, and the New Forest on our doorstep. No better place on earth.

What’s your favourite Cheese?
Isle of Wight blue and the cheese from Book and Bucket cheese company. Delicious and local.

Which other chefs do you admire and why?
Raymond Blanc is my favourite. Not just a great chef but a great man without the big ego of some chefs. He has earnt the respect of many great chefs and rightfully deserved. Locally I admire my team of chefs, you can taste the passion in their creations.

What are you looking forward to most about Wimborne Food Festival?
I am looking forward to my first year here, I want to visit the farmers market, soak up the music and try some local artisan foods. Really excited to be involved.

We are delighted that the Businesses of Wimborne have voted YES to renew Wimborne BID for another five year term. That means that we can continue to organise and grow Wimborne Food Festival!

The Board of Wimborne BID is delighted to announce that the BID has been successfully renewed for another five years.

The BID will now move forward to implement the Renewal Business Plan, which aims to market Wimborne as a premier destination where businesses, residents, and visitors thrive together.

BID Chair, Fiona Pawsey commented “We are pleased and proud that the businesses of Wimborne have shown their support for the BID, and for the Renewal Business Plan. By working together with businesses and other groups, such as Dorset Council, Wimborne Minster Town Council and Wimborne Minster Chamber of Trade and Commerce, we can keep Wimborne the envy of other towns in the area.”.

The ballot saw 74% of levy payers voting in favour by number and 77% in favour by Rateable Value.
