Arthur Verocai’s performance was one for the books🌟

Born in Rio De Janeiro in 1945, Arthur Verocai’s musical world was expansive from the start. His listening habits formed a constellation of influences that stretched from Bach’s stately compositions to Frank Zappa’s surreal experiments, from the brassy brilliance of Blood, Sweat & Tears and Chicago to the elegant sway of bossa nova icons like Antônio Carlos Jobim. This eclecticism would later crystallize into a signature sound unlike anything else in Brazilian music.

Throughout the late ’60s, he immersed himself in arranging, experimenting, and learning the craft – looking to American arrangers like Charles Stepney (who’s legacy we celebrated at WOH25). By the early 1970s, he was working across Brazil’s music and television scenes, composing for a wide range of artists and shows.

In 1972, Verocai’s self-titled album marked a defining moment in music. A concise, 30-minute album, ‘Arthur Verocai’ blended Brazilian pop with soul and jazz music, elevated by folk influence and a sweeping 20 piece string section.

What makes Arthur Verocai even more remarkable is the context in which it was created. The album arrived in the midst of a period marked by censorship, repression, and violent crackdowns on artistic expression. Verocai’s album quietly defied those constraints. Its lyrics, though never overtly confrontational, were laced with metaphor and emotional truth.

His performance at WOH drifted between worlds and was rich with emotion. Thank you to Arthur Verocai and The NU Civilisation Orchestra 💐

Step back into Love Dancin’ with Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy 🔭

If you were lucky enough to squeeze into Love Dancin’ during her set, you’ll remember the journey - a kaleidoscopic mix of Jazz House, Soulful House, Latin House, Disco and Nu-Disco, all woven together in true cosmic style.

A true music obsessive, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy’s standing in the global dance music community has arguably never been higher. Whether she’s presenting, remixing, hosting or DJing, her belief in music’s redemptive properties shines through. And rather than downplay her eclecticism she wears her versatility as a badge of honour, ensuring she is constantly fulfilled creatively.

One last dance from the fields 🩷

Happy Bank Holiday weekend, WOH Family. It’s almost a week since We Out Here came to a close, so we thought we’d revive our mix series to keep us all connected through music, starting with one of the final recordings from We Out Here 2026.

Another weekend closed as it began with Gilles Peterson. It’s becoming somewhat of a tradition to welcome you in on WOH Radio and see you out on Sunday night, once at The Bowl and now at The Rhythm Corner for the final hour of the weekend.

Gilles took us through that last stretch, genre hopping between jazz, grime, disco, drum & bass and everything in between, even treating us to a private release from Borje, close WOH family and part of the Lemon Lounge crew.

A little piece of Sunday night for you all to return to. Listen via the link here: https://tinyurl.com/Live-From-WOH-Gilles-Peterson

Big love to Mary Gouldsbrough on Rhtyhm Corner visuals and the Soundfangled Ltd. team along with their full lighting and production crews across the weekend for making each and every stage shine. And finally, big appreciation to all those who chose to give them all their flowers as they left the stage on Sunday night. That’s what we love to see!

Thank you We Out Here 2026 💖

We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came through and made it WOH’26 what it was. We’re incredibly grateful for every person who shared the weekend with us.

Across every stage, there were moments of joy, connection, discovery and togetherness. From dancing in the crowds to those quieter moments shared with new and old friends, you reminded us why coming together like this matters so much.

We’re leaving the weekend feeling inspired, energised and incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful community around us. And of course, none of it would happen without the incredible musicians, artists, performers, production teams and crew who brought the whole thing to life.

There’s plenty more to come. We’ll soon be sharing photos, videos and some of our favourite moments from the weekend. You can also sign up through our website for WOH 2027 tickets and our newsletter to keep up with everything that’s ahead.

We’d also love to hear how the weekend felt for you. Your feedback genuinely helps us shape the festival and make it better every year, so keep an eye out for our survey landing soon. You can always get in touch with us directly by email too.

Save the date, We Out Here 2027 is 19th–22nd August 🗓️

For our returning WOH family, a limited number of loyalty tickets will go on sale this Thursday at 10am. Super Early Bird tickets will follow in a few weeks for everyone who has signed up.

Thank you for making this weekend so special! See you again next year ❤️
