Thank you to everyone who came along to our fundraising quiz last Wednesday - we raised £279 in entry fees, raffle ticket sales and donations, and we're really grateful to everyone who supported us 👏👏👏

We're organising more fundraising events, hopefuly one each in June and July, so keep an eye on here for details.

In the meantime, we've had further raffle prize donations from a brilliant local artist, Horses4Help CIC Therapeutic Horsemanship Centre , Tarff Valley and Wigtown Book Festival. Raffle ticket sales will continue until at least the next event, at £1 a strip. If you'd like to buy tickets, please message us on here for details.

Just two days to go until the Big Shindy Quiz! We've only got spaces left now for 3 teams of 4 people, and 1 team of 3, so get your bookings in asap by emailing [email protected]

A massive thank you to local businesses who have donated raffle prizes so far: Nest, Cobwebs, The Wigtown Ploughman, Wigtown Brewery, Books & Bakes, Kingdoms Brewery, Wee Bits Restaurant, Foggie Toddle Books, Spinning a Yarn, Bladnoch Botanics and Galloway Farmhouse Cheeses.

We've got a brilliant selection of gift packs and vouchers, and we'll start selling raffle tickets to quizzers and anybody who wants them at The Wigtown Ploughman from 7pm on Wednesday night for £1 a strip 🎟️

We're still collecting donations and this raffle will run into June, so please get in touch by message here if you'd like to contribute a raffle prize.

Can you help? The Wigtown Shindy 2026 is getting nearer and the team of volunteers are working hard behind the scenes to create a fantastic 4 days of music and events in August.
We have had some great support over the years and again this year - as usual sponsor details will be released over the next few weeks.
Unfortunately though, everything is costing more and we are a little short on our fundraising target - the Shindy costs over £10,000 to put on and make sure that it is free for everyone to come along to.
If you are an individual or a business, or know someone or a business who would like to help make this year's shindy special and free for all, please get in touch. Message us and we'll be happy to chat about getting your name/brand on the programmes, displaying banners at the Shindy and promoting you via this page.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Evening folks! We hope you're looking forward to the big Shindy fundraising quiz at The Wigtown Ploughman on May 13th. Remember to book your team spot if you haven't done it yet!

We'll be holding one or two other fundraising events over the summer so that we can keep the Shindy free for all to attend, and we'll be holding raffles at each event.

We welcome raffle prize donations from anyone willing and able to do so. If you are a local business able to donate a product, voucher or service, or an individual wishing to donate a bottle or box of something, please message us here to let us know, and thank you in advance for anything you can spare for our excellent local event🙏🩷

Massive thank you to Team Wigtown Store for another year supporting the Shindy. Great to have them onboard again this year.

Here's Matt collecting the last of the three cheques we have given out recently - this one will be used to support the Wigtown Shindy, which will be here again before you know it! If you are looking for support with a local group, start by sending a letter in to store addressed to Shirley, our store manager, outlining your cause and what the money will be used for. We can't make any promises, but it may be successful. Don't forget to keep an eye out later this spring/early summer for when applications open for the Community Fund, which could be worth a minimum of a £1000 as opposed to £150.

We're a way off announcing our 2026 Shindy Programme, but we'd love you to spare a few minutes for a local project.

Have you heard about the UK Town of Culture Competition? This has a prize pot for 3 winning towns – £250k each for two runners up, and £3 million for the overall winner. This money could make a MASSIVE difference to Wigtown!

A group of local people are working on a bid for us, and they want to hear from YOU!

You can complete a paper survey (dropped through your letterbox) and drop it into the Co-op, The County Buildings or the Wigtown Ploughman, and there's an online version, with details on the image below.

AND, there are TWO consultation events this week:
Friday 27th February at The Merse, from 3pm to 7pm
Saturday 28th February at The County Buildings, 10am-3pm

Join folks for a cuppa to chat about what you would do with the money, and what culture means to you: it could be anything from art, literature, theatre and music, to heritage, history, traditions, farming, the environment, sport, TV and film. Get involved!

Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience of the 2025 Wigtown Shindy. Your feedback is so important to ensuring that we can continue to improve the Shindy and to help us to get funding to be able to make the Shindy a free to everyone event.
