The Station Master’s Centre is an integrated family of enterprises for community wellbeing and not-for-profit social innovation which supports the creative life and health and well-being of the people of North Tyneside. It is based in the in heritage listed metro station of Whitley Bay and combines the new market, garden, yoga station and music room
. The Green Beans Market is about healthy food, local produce, gardening, sustainable local communities and upcycling – all with a creative focus. Our ambition is to build community and support innovative projects that improve how we eat and source food. Proceeds will support the wider activities of the Station community projects. The Station Masters Community Wildlife Garden – physically linked to the market - is an important part of the experience – linking people in the journey of sourcing food and reconnecting with the natural environment. It is a space designed for inclusion. There are accessible raised beds for food demonstration and growing, children friendly beds and wild spaces for natural play, events areas and sites for biodiversity (for bees, slow worms etc). It provides creative opportunities and openings for all ages to join in, keep active and connected, and maybe make a new friend. The Yoga Station is a multi-use venue within the market. It is all about social inclusion an open and welcoming place for everyone - babies to elders. It’s not just for yoga, but hosts craft, parkour, gardening and theatre. The profits from The Yoga Station also help support the Station Master’s Centre.
