Yes it's true. 6 years since we last ran a Scale the Heights event at the fabulous Rush Skate Park, we are going to be running two more fitness events this year.
A lot has changed since the Scale the Heights days. We did a lot of unique stuff. Live thrash metal bands, comic books, bespoke trailer mounted rigs, hundreds of wildcard phone calls, theatrical cinema trailers, a live opera singer and of course the finale with BMX riders and skateboarders on the streets of Rush Skatepark, plus much much more we are very proud of, but we can't do that stuff again. I'm grey enough.
A lot has changed since then. We have found a new home at Barbell Training Complex in Warwick. A great powerlifting centred gym with a great community. It's a different world that we are very happy in. So the events of the past isn't something we will be running again. However we have taken on board the many requests we have received over the years to run more team based events and we appreciate the kind words we have often received about the things we did.
With this in mind, we will be running two more events that take on board the feedback for a team event, and bring them somewhere in line between our new found home within the powerlifting community and the team event requests we often get.
TAG SBD will take things back to basics and provide the team event opportunity we have often been asked to provide.
TAG SBD will be two separate day events.
Teams of 4. Any s*x / age over 18, All abilities. 3 rounds of Squat, Bench and Deadlift. Loads chosen in advance. When team members aren't lifting, they are spotters or plate loaders. Like a pit crew. Each round you will accumulate a score of load x reps which will be put into a Wilks calculator that will consider your age and s*x to fairly compare your score with the load output against other teams.
So this is NOT SCALE THE HEIGHTS 2.0 but it will be run by the same people, with the same ethos. We would love to see people from our past events take part, and we would of course love to welcome new people too.
If your gym is keen to take part, please keep an eye on this page, as there will be just two days with just eighteen team spaces per day.
