Wargrave 10K

Wargrave 10K Wargrave 10k Road Race and Kids Fun Run - Sunday 29th June 2025 The fun run is for children aged 4 to 14.

The Wargrave 10k is a well-established race with a course starting and finishing on grass with the rest of the course on undulating country lanes and some residential streets within the village. The course for this race is run solely off-road utlising the Wargrave Recreation Ground, with marshals distributed around the field. In recent years, the main race has attracted an entry of 300-400 runners

but has reached up to 700 since the event began. The Wargrave 10k event, and kids fun run event are planned and organised by 3 committee members from the Wargrave and Twyford Running Club (which is affiliated to UK Athletics), as well as locally based sports event management company, Barness Fitness. We benefit from being able to host the runners villages and start/finish line in an off-road location on the Wargrave Village Recreation Ground. Parking is available at the recreation ground but is limited and can be booked on a first come first served basis (additional £2) when you enter online. Additional parking is available away from the recreation ground. The course is well-marshalled with approximately 100 people out on the course or around the start/finish area marshalling and officiating. Marshals cover all road junctions and critical parts of the course from a safety perspective. We provide 3 water stations at approximately 2.5, 5.5 and 8.2 km. We have changing facilities, bag drop & refreshments available to buy. For more event information visit http://www.wargraveandtwyfordrunners.co.uk/wargrave-10k

Our Story

Wargrave has been host to an annual road run since 1983. Initially raced over a non-standard distance of about 8 miles before settling down to its recent 10 Kilometre distance, it has in that time become a well-established race on the local circuit.

For 2019, we are making a change and the race will now take place over 5 Miles. The course will be very familiar to those who have previously run the 10K, starting and finishing on the grass of Wargrave Recreation Ground with the rest of the course on undulating country lanes and some residential streets within village with a couple of sections omitted from the previous version of the course.

So, why change what has been a successful and popular event? The explosion in the number of sporting events in recent years, not just runs but triathlons, swims and various adventure races, has created a lot of competition for events such as the Wargrave run. We think there is a gap in the market for a 5 Mile road race over a certified course. In fact, we believe it will be the only such event in Berkshire this year. In addition, with the growing popularity of the 5K distance, we hope that a race over 5 Miles (approximately 8 Kilometres) will create an interesting intermediate challenge for those looking to extend from the 5K distance. Whatever your motivation for running, we hope to offer the well supported, enjoyable race experience that Wargrave has become known for.

The proceeds from the race have been used to support a range of charities, both local and national, with over £3,000 raised by the 2018 event.
