Ever wondered how the dance, the Lindy Hop got it's name.
In 1927 at the Savoy Ballroom Harlem a marathon dance competition was taking place.
A champion dancer "George "Shorty" Snowdon was asked by a reporter covering the event, what do you call this dance?
George, having spotted a newspaper laying nearby, with the headlines, Lindy hops the Atlantic, improvised, telling the reporter that the dance was called the Lindy hop.
The newspaper headline referred to Charles Lindbergh, who had completed the first solo nonstop Transatlantic flight. Up to this point the dance was referred to as just dancing to swing jazz music.
