The rose and the bee... sacred reciprocity 🌹🐝
It’s World Bee Day and one can’t help but want to tend to the garden not only within through the Rose Path, but also in our outer environment. To plant seeds. To grow wild meadows. To restore relationship.
There is an urgent need to protect our great bee cross-pollinators and keepers of biodiversity.
The Greek word for bees (Mellisses or Mellissae) was used in ancient times to name the ancient priestesses of Demeter, 'The Bee of Delphi', Persephone, Aphrodite and more in Greek, Egyptian and other cultural history. They were referred to as Melissae due to the ritual purity and sweetness associated with the bee. Bees were seen as symbols of purity, abundance, devotion, and the soul’s connection to the divine feminine, the same qualities embodied by all the priestess lineages.
Nearly 75% of global food crops rely on pollination, with bees playing a primary role. Bees are critical for maintaining biodiversity and supporting healthy ecosystems that give us medicinal plants, healthy soils, and clean water.
Just like the bees, we women gather to cross-pollinate ideas, nourish communities, and rebuild the new Earth. Placing our energy and attention on what deeply matters in this time.
Ways to support our bees:
🌿 Plant bee-friendly flowers and shrubs
🌿 Support biodiversity in gardens, balconies and window boxes
🌿 Join No Mow May and allow wildflowers to bloom
🌿 Support local beekeepers and local hive products
🌿 Raise awareness around pesticides and habitat loss
🌿 Create pollinator stations or insect shelters
May we remember that tending to the Earth is also tending to ourselves and each other.
Love,
from this Greek Mellisa Maria 😘🌹🌿
