WinterStorm Weekend of Classic Rock on the west coast of Scotland - Four decades of rock n roll... They are looked after as guests.
(1)

WinterStorm was born in Troon Scotland in 2016 and since then it has continued to prosper through some highly challenging times, with the event selling more than 3000 tickets over the four days of the event. It continues to punch above its weight in terms of bands and artistes attracted and there is no doubt that this is down to the unique atmosphere that the venue and its audience creates. Winter

Storm is fully committed to offering the best experience an old school concert hall venue can provide with local suppliers providing the services and communities engaged at every level. Quality bar and catering operations offering Scottish produce and real ales are matched by the amazing work of the volunteer service provided by the legion of ‘StormTroopers. WinterStorm has grown with a commitment to looking after the “talent”; bands and musicians make WinterStorm, and the organisers take immense pride with the feedback from artists, with bands ALWAYS more than impressed with the sound provided and the levels of service given. WinterStorm’s reputation has grown through the word of mouth of bands and management and this support has undoubtedly helped the organisers to attract others to the stage year on year. The event provides a truly unique atmosphere in the compact 850 capacity main stage area and when fans and bands alike compare it favourably to the sound and atmosphere of the old Glasgow Apollo, those organising don’t take the compliment lightly. It is however exactly what they set out to achieve. It truly is a unique atmosphere and when fans and bands alike compare it favourably to the sound and atmosphere of the old Glasgow Apollo, we don’t take the compliment lightly but it is what we set out to achieve. WinterStorm alumni now include so many of our heroes and bands, old and new – Michael Schenker Group, Skid Row, Dead Daisies, Magnum, Focus, GUN, FM, Last in Line, The Quireboys, Wayward Sons, Tyketto, – Heavy Metal and old school bands such as Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head, Praying Mantis, Vardis, Quartz, Girlschool, OD Saxon, Geordie and Rock Goddess and individual heroes such as Bernie Marsden, Uli Jon Roth, Graham Bonnett, Geoff Tate, Martin Barre, Pete Way, Ricky Warwick, Neil Murray, Blaze Bayley and Paul Di’anno, Pat McManus, Cherie Currie and Marco Mendoza
European talent has played its part too; H.E.A.T, The New Roses, Eclipse, Crazy Lixx amongst a catalogue of others; 2024 diversified its geographical spread yet further with The Damn Truth from Canada, Von Hertzen Brothers from Finland, Electric Gypsy from Brazil, SEVI from Bulgaria and Girish and The Chronicles from India. Add in the new generation bands such as Those Damn Crows, Stone Broken, Massive Wagons, Florence Black, Tailgunner and a whole load more of bands embraced enthusiastically by the WinterStorm fan base. And of course, WinterStorm is proudly Scottish. So, it's no surprise to discover that they have featured the occasional pipe band, Celtic tribal bands and the obligatory Lone Piper to close each event out! Eight years and more than 300 bands later, WinterStorm HAS no doubt punched above its weight and they’ve only been able to do this through fans, bands and artistes supporting the ethos of WinterStorm and its team.

Following the outstanding success of 2025’s “Spirit of ’80” themed Saturday Sessions, WinterStorm is proud to unveil “Out of The Shadows” as the theme for Saturday 28th November 2026 at WinterStorm X in Troon as part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the annual melodic rock weekend by the Ayrshire seaside.

Curated in collaboration with, and sponsored by long term festival friends at Shock City and Joolz Gizzi from GUN, this special all-day stage will be both a heartfelt tribute to the recent passing of Cami Morlotti and more than a nod to the unforgettable Scottish rock scene of the early eighties — a scene that gave birth to so many bands, so many memories, and so many legendary nights.

The “Out of The Shadows” stage will feature six full sets on the upstairs stage at WinterStorm and include Glasgow, The Greig Taylor Band, Rattlesnake Tattoo, Knucklebone, Killing From A Distance and a very special guest tribute spot from Jools, Dante & Paul from GUN.

Jools explained his involvement,

"The guys in GUN have a long history with WinterStorm and with the recent loss of our dear friend Cami Morlotti it felt like a good move when Pete from Shock City approached us with the idea of doing a tribute that stitched in some of the memories of those early days with Cami. Dante and Paul and myself are delighted to be involved in this and we'll raise a wee glass to Cami along with his friends and fans."

Alongside the tribute, lies Shadows, the legendary downstairs venue on Bath Street, one of the true homes of Glasgow’s rock underground. Alongside iconic venues such as The Burns Howff, Wypers and The Venue, Heathery Bar in Wishaw and of course Shadows which became a meeting place for musicians, fans and friends who lived for the music and the atmosphere of the city after dark.

It was an era when Scotland seemed to produce a new band every week. From smoky back rooms to packed city-centre clubs, the scene was alive with raw ambition, leather jackets, Marshall stacks and unforgettable choruses. Oh yeah and a lot more hair than we all have now!

Pete from Shock City explains,

"Shock City have been promoting live music in various venues across Glasgow for more than a decade now and all of us involved through the years grew up in the bars and downstairs venues of old Glasgow, "Out of the Shadows!" sort of captures where we call came from and the line up we've put together reflects those roots. We're delighted to be back with old friends at WinterStorm"

Bands such as Chasar, Blind Allez, Henry Gorman band then Heavy Pettin, Glasgow, Lyin Rampant, Anaconda, Zero Zero, La Paz and many others helped shape the soundtrack of that remarkable time. These were the days that built reputations, forged friendships and inspired generations of rock fans across Scotland. In some ways, we hope WinterStorm has played its part over the past decade in keeping some of those memories and friendships alive.

Throughout the Saturday, the six bands will take to the Sessions Stage, capturing the spirit, sound and stories of a scene that helped define Scotland's rock heritage.

For many, this was where it all began — the thrill of discovering a new band, the energy of the crowd pressed against the stage, and the sense that Glasgow was at the centre of something special.

Out of the Shadows will try to capture just a bit of the essence of that spirit for a day.

Saturday’s Sessions Stage will be a salute to the venues, the bands, the people and the stories that defined the city’s rock heritage. It will also stand as a fitting tribute to Cami Morlotti whose love of, and contribution to, the music embodied everything that this scene represented.

Following on from the success of 2025's "Spirit of 80" theme, the Saturday Sessions "Out of the Shadows" stage promises to be another memorable experience at WinterStorm — a celebration of legacy, memory and the music that never leaves us.

Six bands. One stage. One unforgettable journey back to the heart of Glasgow and Scottish rock and a tribute to a lost friend.

Before the 'Storm...
The Bay City Rollers remain one of the most iconic pop bands of the 70s and became a global sensation with hits like Bye Bye Baby, Saturday Night and Shang-A-Lang. Selling over 300 million records worldwide, the Bay City Rollers attracted fans of all ages and a phenomenon known as Rollermania swept across the globe with legions of devoted fans kitted out in their trademark tartan.

Now, 50 years later, original member, Stuart “Woody” Wood, of the Classic five is still flying the tartan flag joined by a fantastic and energetic new line-up and we are delighted that they will be performing Before the 'Storm on Wednesday 25th November at Troon Concert Hall ahead of Year Ten of the three day annual WinterStorm Classic Rock Festival.

The Bay City Rollers are touring the UK & Ireland throughout 2026 with their infectious pop-rock anthems. So, dig out your tartan and Keep on Rollin’ with the Bay City Rollers at Troon Concert Hall.

Pre sale tickets available to our mailing list and public sale from 10am on Friday 5th of June from WinterStorm.co.uk

Along with Tygers, Mantis have almost been a House Band for WinterStorm and it's always great to see how warm a welcome they receive every time they come back.
This eponymously titled track is everything we celebrated about the Spirit of '80 at WinterStorm 2025 and they nailed it once more live.
