09/03/2019
To all our super supporters, riders, clubs, charities, hand cyclists, friends and volunteers - it is with huge disappointment that I have to advise that the Silverstone 9up Team Time Trial - arranged for the 14th June 2019 is to be cancelled.
The F1 circuit at Silverstone is to be re-surfaced that weekend and this means we have lost track access as a result. We have been working extremely hard to find an alternate date in June, including nights other than a Friday - but getting track, garages, parking and wing access has proved unsuccessful. We also explored access to the Stowe Circuit for some form of 'event' but that is now under the management of Aston Martin and is not available.
As news started to trickle through to us a few weeks back, Steven Milicia, as Club President stepped in and took up negotiations with Silverstone direct (I have been too head in hands and despondent!) - they are also deeply disappointed to let us all down and we are currently working on finding and locking in a date for 2020 - we don't want to let this signature event go!.
To everyone reading this here - please give me chance to contact everyone direct - I have several emails and messages to respond to and a large number of individuals who provide so much time and effort in prep and on the night who I want to touch base with personally (not least our hand cyclists, regular supporters, junior supporters and all!!). Notices have been shared on the BMCC call for volunteers event tab, and on the BMCC page (so apologies if you are receiving this from multiple avenues).
If anyone needs to contact me direct we are still running [email protected]. To all our supporters I am sorry - we hope that you will all retain good memories of the event and that we will see you all back at Silverstone in 2020.
Happy cycling all (and here's hoping this is the year that the weather is wet and windy on the 14th June!)
