Hey Folks,
We finally have an update for you, but unfortunately it is not good news.
As we already know from our previous announcement, the prices were raised for this year and priced many of our family units out.
However, when we agreed and asked to book the site, they asked us to wait for them to have a meeting. That meeting took place yesterday and they came back to us with even higher pricing and limitations added on.
They raised the site fee (which didn't exist before this year) to £300.
They raised the EHU fee to £35 per person per night PLUS £10 per pitch.
They raised the child fee to £10 per person per night.
Refunds will be charged at 4%
They removed the onsite barbecues.
They limited us to Wednesday to Sunday.
Obviously we find this completely unworkable, and therefore have taken the hard decision to cancel this year's event.
We realise some of you have already booked holiday from work, and we are so sorry for that - but as you can see above, we did the best we could with the events as they unfolded.
What does that mean for the future?
We will search for a new site and hopefully get back to having an event next year, or the year after. It's going to be hard though to match the facilities we had at Silverstone - most notable was the big marquee.
If anyone knows of such a site, please do let us know - it doesn't have to be central, but obviously that would be a big bonus.
In the meantime, Lindsay runs a Facebook group where they organise informal camping & gaming weekends - absolutely self-catered/self-sufficient - if that appeals, please do get in touch with Lindsay, or join the group here : https://www.facebook.com/groups/771127360874239
In other news, sadly Ian & Kat, have stepped down from their roles at Field of Games. Without Ian this event would never have gotten off the ground and we'll be forever grateful to them for building not just an event, but a community. Obviously Russ was also there at the beginning, and remains, working with Lindsay and Leigh to take the event forward.
We'll sign off here feeling sad at the end of one chapter, but looking forward to what the next chapter may bring
Ian, Kat, Russ, Lindsay & Leigh
