We are delighted that the Todmorden Bandstand will be hosting a performance of Terry Riley’s seminal minimalist composition ‘In C’ on 21st June! The event is being organised and led by Calderdale Fantasy Orchestra’s David Insua-Cao. Full details in the link below. Whether you go as a performer or listener this should be a treat for fans of the experimental side of music making - and we know there’s plenty of you out there in Todmorden!

Dear friends of the bandstand and people of Todmorden,

Correction! The meeting is Monday 11th May, not July!

We are having a volunteers' meeting on Monday 11th May at 17:30 at the Honest John's side room. If you are interested in volunteering with us to put on and manage events, to help us with fundraising and/or to steward on events, please come along to meet the Bandstand Group committee and find out how you can help. If you're thinking of coming please send us a message so we have an idea of likely numbers.

We hope to see you there!

Andy Kershaw 1959 - 2026

We are very saddened to hear of the death of DJ and journalist Andy Kershaw.

Andy was a great supporter of the campaign to save the Todmorden Bandstand. He made a programme about it for BBC Radio 4’s ‘From Our Home Correspondent’ series back in March 2020. He also offered to make use of his music business knowledge and contacts to help us put on events if we were successful in bringing it back into use. We had looked forward to seeing him in our park, enjoying a beer or two, watching some of the top-tier folk and world music artists he’d championed. It’s such a shame he was taken too soon.

Thanks for the support and friendship Andy, for your uncompromising stance on musical mediocrity, and for playing all those bloody great records.

We offer our sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

We were made aware of some young people being on the Bandstand, but we would like to reassure people that there has been no damage caused to the Bandstand beyond a few muddy footprints.

The young people were very respectful and polite when approached by a member of the Town Council staff.

We appreciate that the community is looking out for the Bandstand, but please don't hesitate to call the police if you see a crime being committed on the Bandstand.
The Bandstand is monitored by CCTV, so if any damage is caused there will be repercussions.

In October we had the pleasure of showing some local young people around Todmorden Bandstand so they could get a better idea of the work that is going into restoring our heritage building.

A great opportunity for the students to climb the scaffolding and get up close to the roof and the carved detailing!

Some of the students had been involved in a previous day out with the architects, so they have been able to follow the build process from the beginning, and see it now in action.

Big thank you to Rosslee Construction and Buttress Architects for taking time out to explain the renovations, and to Ms Shirt and Mrs Sutcliffe at Todmorden High School for making the visit happen!

The Bandstand is being renovated as part of the Todmorden Town Deal projects, with invaluable financial support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
