Can you help at Lavenham Endurance?

We need an army of volunteers to join us to make the event a success. We will be looking for volunteers to cover all varieties of jobs to include:

👉Vet Writing
👉Vet gate timing
👉Road crossing stewards
👉Car parking stewards
👉Venue helpers
👉Start/Finish timekeepers

What do we promise in return?

🏆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘇 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆 🏆

Some contributions to our sport are obvious the moment you arrive at a venue. Others are felt months — even years — down the line, in the opportunities created for riders, horses and teams to progress.

This year’s Liz Finney Memorial Trophy winners, 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 and 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, embody exactly what this award stands for.

Already proven organisers, the trio successfully delivered 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗺 and 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗙𝗘𝗜 and 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 — and rather than stopping there, they’ve gone one step further. In 2026, they’ll organise 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝗘𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 across Lavenham and Thetford, creating vital opportunities for British riders to compete, qualify and develop on home soil.

Why does that matter? Because international endurance doesn’t happen by accident. Without FEI rides in the UK, we can’t build depth, experience or future championship teams. And without dedicated ride organisers willing to take on the challenge, ambition quickly becomes impossible.

From navigating new venues and complex logistics, to delivering challenging but fair courses with horse welfare at the heart of every decision, Lauren, Anna and Philip have shown what’s possible when passion meets commitment.

As Performance Director Annie Joppe explains in the article, Endurance GB has set ambitious targets to grow FEI participation in 2026 — and organisers like these are absolutely central to making that vision achievable.

This is a story about belief in the sport, belief in British endurance, and belief in what we can achieve together.

Fantastic to have 🇬🇧 representation at this event 👌

Today marks the start of the second and final day of the 𝗙𝗘𝗜 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 in Perugia, Italy — a rare and important opportunity for endurance to come together on a global stage after almost a decade.

Held over two days, the Forum has brought together national federations, FEI officials, veterinarians, organisers, riders and key stakeholders from across the world to openly discuss the present and future of our sport. The programme has focused on the main pillars of endurance, including horse welfare, veterinary matters, technology and control systems, communication and visibility, the role of organising committees, youth engagement, and how we can make endurance more accessible, sustainable and affordable moving forward.

Endurance GB is represented by Chair Larissa Whiley, Operations Director Shelley Bates, alongside FEI Official Sue Broughton, contributing to discussions that recognise shared challenges across nations — from rising costs and participation levels, to transparency, consistency and maintaining the highest welfare standards.

One of the key takeaways so far has been just how aligned countries are in both their challenges and ambitions. Open dialogue, honest reflection and a willingness to learn from one another have been central to the conversations, with a strong collective focus on rebuilding trust, growing participation and safeguarding the welfare of the horse above all else.

It’s been a good opportunity to hear about other countries’ successes and issues, and realise that on the whole our problems are not any different to theirs. As discussions continue into the final sessions today, the emphasis remains on collaboration, shared responsibility and shaping a positive, sustainable future for endurance — with horse welfare at the heart of everything we do.

As riders ourselves who have competed in all parts of the world between us, we have a shared passion for the sport. We are committed to our contribution to international endurance and we are determined to keep it alive in the UK.

𝗢𝗖’𝗦 𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗚𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗
We are honoured to be presenting this very special award to recognise the rider who represents endurance to the ultimate degree of professionalism. We want to highlight those who do their utmost for the horse and it’s welfare whilst maintaining their competitive edge.

This award is judged on:
⭐Horse and rider turn out at vetting and throughout competition
⭐Competitive Edge & Tactics
⭐Rider etiquette (respecting the course and the venue)
⭐Horse Welfare and condition

We have teamed up with 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢 for this award and the lucky winner (should) receive a BURIONI Saddle Pad! However, our winner is none other than Mrs Equiverse Pro herself, 𝘼𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢!

Alice and her horse Best Off Du Vallois (or Herbie to his friends) were 4th in the CEI3* 160km class, and completed at a speed of 15.57kph. Alice has always been a true ambassador for the sport, showing dedication to compete at the top level and represent her country on the world stage. Alice will say that Herbie has not been the most straight forward horse by any means, but she and her husband Harry have persevered with him and here they are now, competing at the pinnacle of the sport. To add to this, Alice welcomed her second son Alfie to the world only 6 months previous. To get 160km race fit after losing all core strength through pregnancy is a real demonstration of the had work that went into this result. Alice came to Thetford Endurance with some real concerns. Concerns about whether she had done enough to prepare for this distance, whether she would be fit enough to do it and whether she would have the grit that is needed in a race like this to get the job done. She was confident in Herbie and was sure he was up to the challenge, but was she? Well Alice, you did everything right, and despite your worries, you pulled it out of the bag. And for that reason, along with this fantastic text book performance, you are the deserved winner of the OC's Rider Recognition Award.

In the CEN 80km at Thetford Endurance, we saw Georgina Vaughan & 𝗩𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗤 𝗝𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗬𝗠𝗔𝗡 take the win comfortably at a speed of 16.6kph. The icing on the cake for their weekend is that the veterinary panel judged 𝗩𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗤 𝗝𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗬𝗠𝗔𝗡 as 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 in this race too!
