🏆 Exercise Mountain Storm 2025 Awarded the Shackleton Award! 🏆

After three years of dedication, teamwork, and sheer determination, Exercise Mountain Storm 2025 has been awarded the Shackleton Award for the most successful, imaginative, and adventurous expedition of the past year in the RAF Air Cadets, supported and chosen by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)

Thirty cadets and staff from 22 Squadrons, 6 Wings, and 2 Regions braved the Rocky Mountains of Canada, pushing their limits in leadership, endurance, and resilience. From navigating the breathtaking landscapes of Banff and Jasper National Parks to thrilling adventures like white-water rafting and zip-lining, every participant embraced the challenge and grew from the experience.

This award celebrates not only the cadets and staff who took part but also everyone who supported the expedition behind the scenes. 🌄💪

Here’s to conquering new heights and embracing the storm; Mountain Storm 2025 proves what’s possible when we chase adventure with courage and determination!

Remarkably, this is the third time in four expeditions, through 12 years of hard work, that the Shackleton Award has been won, thanks to the incredible work of some amazing cadets and staff teams. Never let anyone stop your dreams, go for it!

Over the weekend, three teams from the Bristol & Gloucestershire Wing participated in the Royal Air Force Cosford 2-Day March. The teams took on either the 2 x 20km or 2 x 40km routes.

The Wing's turnout was outstanding, with 7 staff members and 36 cadets among the 609 participants.

This event also served as a qualifying round for teams selected to represent the RAFAC at the 2026 Nijmegen March later this year. We are proud to announce that we will be sending a team!

A huge congratulations to all the staff and cadets for successfully completing their chosen distances. A special mention to the B&G Wing teams who were awarded the Best RAFAC Team!

With 26 silver medals and 10 bronze medals achieved, it was an incredible showing of determination and teamwork.

A big thank you to the amazing support staff who made this event possible.

Embracing Adventure Training: Unleashing Potential at Exercise Mountain Storm

As the future of Exercise Mountain Storm remains uncertain, our dedicated staff team is more committed than ever to demonstrating the transformative power of adventure training. Through the spirit of adventure, we show what can be achieved—not only by pushing physical limits but by fostering resilience, teamwork, and personal growth.

Adventure training offers numerous benefits, for participants of all ages and roles . It strengthens bonds within teams, encourages leadership development, enhances problem-solving skills, and boosts overall well-being. By stepping outside our comfort zones, we unlock new potential in ourselves and others, ensuring that we’re better equipped to face any challenge—both on and off the field.

As we continue to navigate the uncertain future of this incredible initiative, we remain passionate about the lasting impact adventure training can have on our community.

Conquer the heights, Embrace the storm.
