The Piddle Wood Plod 10k starts at Thurlbear Primary School, the route quickly picks up the Neroche Here Path trail and head out along small country lanes towards Piddle Wood. As you pass Netherclay riding stable the road gives way to tracks and become totally traffic free. A slight incline leads up to a major junction by the only water station. Here you will head up to Lime Ridge traversing Happi

ness Hill. (Don't forget to smile as you get to the top!) A flat section of track leads to a sharp rocky decent here you will have to be careful not to twist an ankle. The trail is flat and fast as it now passes Witch Lodge fishing lake, if your getting too hot here is the place to cool off. Over a foot bridge and back to the water station, half way. Track heads back up towards Lime Ridge but turns sharp left and takes a different route to the top of Happiness Hill, passing through some challenging undergrowth. Along Lime Ridge and back down the ankle twisting decent a second time before flying passed the lake. A last sip of water before heading back along the tracks and road back to the school.

It is with a heavy heart we have to inform you that unfortunately the 2026 Piddle Wood Plod 10k will have to be cancelled. A landslide in the woods has closed the trail and the Forestry Commission will not have it fixed in time for the race. The other alternate trail around Orchard Wood is also closed. We are in contact with them and they hope to have it fixed by next year đŸ€žFirst COVID, then Dormice, a heatwave and now a landslide! We have been through it all, but will be back!!!

For those that have not been to our race sponsor Perry's Cider orchard and cider mills at Dowlish Wake it’s really worth a visit, great food and amazing gift shop. Through the summer they have some great events which are always extra special.

Can’t wait for this!! Join us for perryscider and local lamb mezze in the beautiful courtyard. 5 to 9. Kids welcome.

Thank you to every one of you runners that made today such a success. We could not put on the run without the support of lots of people, so thanks to all the marshals, the children of Thurlbear CE VA Primary School for decorating all the medals, Stampita our band in the woods, Thurlbear PTA for all the great cakes and a special mention Perry's Cider for their continued support. Congratulations to all our prize winners, full results tomorrow, I am in need of a cold cider. See you all in 2026
