“NICK DRAKE - THE RECORDINGS by Adam Foster

The book grew out of a project that began in 2012, when I spent a day in the recording studio with Nick’s sound engineer, John Wood. In addition to John, I’ve been fortunate to have spoken with many who knew Nick and worked on his records, and their memories have been invaluable.”

This book is the result of a project by musician Adam Foster, conceived during a day spent in a recording studio with Nick’s legendary sound engineer, John Wood.

For every order, a tree will be planted with the Ecologi Partnership.

We almost had this award winning wonderful choir this year but they didn't have quite enough members available over this summer, so maybe next year. The Insole Court Community Choir directed by Tim Riley.

Here they are performing Northern Sky.

Apologies to all who applied, working on the invites, we have so many people who applied this year, it's taking longer to sift through. I am asking any who are regular performers to please let me know if they are willing to step aside this year or team up and let me know asap.

Well, I am finally up to date on most things. I have been quite unwell. Just before Christmas I got gifted another round of way worse shingles on the other side of the body (lower), which made sitting, standing, walking and even lying down very painful and inconvenient. So, sitting behind a computer was simply not possible. I have slowly been recovering, but not quite there yet.

I am very sad about Mark Atherton having passed away. He is one of the organisers of a meet-up by the grave and a concert in Redditch in 2003. I visited Tanworth in Arden for the first time that year and missed this event by 3 days. The next year in 2004, when it was 30 years since Nick passed, I asked on the forum we were all on back in those days, if they (or anybody) was planning anything again, but they weren't, so I decided, without any experience whatsoever, on an AuDHD whim, to take up that mantle. That meet-up in 2003 became my basis idea for the event, so we have always counted it as the start. Especially since Mark and Suzie came that first year and Mark performed as well. They gave me the template and supported it. They were the fertile soil to grow in. Mark is and will always be part of the roots of The Nick Drake Gathering as it is today. And he shall be missed.

With love, Denise

Di Atherton Holloway has asked me (Kev) to share her sad news:

“It’s with sadness that I let everyone know that my beautiful husband Mark passed away this afternoon. Mark was being cared for by staff at hospital and passed away very peacefully.”

As many of you know, Mark was one of the original Nick Drake Gathering founders, back when it was called a “Merry Abandon”. He’s been unwell for some time. RIP, and thanks for so much.

Dear everybody,

The dates for 2026 are:
Friday July 17th and Saturday July 18th.

I'd like to apologise for the lateness of everything. There has been some trouble with confirming things, but mostly it is for personal reasons. Health issues, severe burnout and grief. I am still struggling a lot. I also am still recovering from shingles in the face, which makes for a painful eye still when doing on screen things since it is in the trigeminal nerve. Possible whiplash from a neck injury last July is also not helping the recovery.

From today on you can apply to perform for 2026 via our website, up until the end of February, as usual. I do however ask for your patience in me replying and getting through the emails.

Thank you,
Denise
